Windows 10 has brought with it a novelty that can be very useful to users, virtual desktops, thanks to them we will be able to organize our work environment in a much more comfortable way. If you want to know more about Windows 10 virtual desktops, read on.

What are virtual desktops?

Virtual desktops are not really something new, in fact GNU / Linux users have been enjoying them for many years. However for the user who has always moved within Windows if they are something completely new since no previous version of the Redmond system has included them.

To access the virtual desktops of Windows 10 you just have to click on the icon located to the left of Microsoft Edge that is shown in the following image:

Then the virtual desktops menu will open showing the ones you have activated, you must have two since it is the number that is activated by default in Windows 10.

Of course we can add more virtual desktops, we just have to click on "add new desktop" as many times as we want to add desktops.

To delete a virtual desktop we only have to put the cursor on it and click on the X.

And what are virtual desktops for?

With virtual desktops we can better organize our Windows desktop to be able to work in a much more comfortable way and increase productivity, let's see an example to understand it better.

Suppose I want to have several programs open on my computer, with virtual desktops I can have 4 programs in multi-window mode with two virtual desktops, so I can change much faster from one program to another and keep all four in multi-window mode, let's see it in picture.

In the previous image it is observed that I have four programs open in multi-window mode, specifically I have two Microsoft Edge windows in a virtual desktop and in a second virtual desktop I have Xbox and OneNote.

This is just an example, you may simply want to keep each program open on a different virtual desktop to organize yourself better, surely you can find very useful uses for your day to day.
