Intel joule now supports ubuntu 16.04
Table of contents:
- Joule supports Ubuntu 16.04 and is more powerful than Raspberry Pi 3
- You can use it as a PC or server
If you want a Linux PC, this new Intel Joule microcomputer is wasted. Because it is a great alternative, without you having to go through the box to buy something much more expensive. We could say that Joule is more powerful than Raspberry Pi 3, because it is showing that it can achieve good results. You can have a low-end PC or server.
Joule supports Ubuntu 16.04 and is more powerful than Raspberry Pi 3
The Joule cards now have support for Ubuntu 16.04 (don't miss our tips for Ubuntu 16.04 after installing), so it is good news second we have been able to see from Intel, according to the Intel IO Developer Kit 5.0 that was released last week.
These Joule boards are like Raspberry Pi 3 (don't miss our review), with all the main components on the same board. Although Joule, has recent components for memory and storage, which make it the most powerful computer right now in its class. We have the latest Atom processors based on the Broxton architecture, GPUs that can capture 4K video, with Wi-Fi 802.11ac, LPDDR4 memory, USB 3.0 ports and internal storage of up to 8 GB. Raspberry Pi 3 has an ARM, without internal storage, USB 2.0 and 1080p, with slower memory and Wi-Fi.
In case you are not up to date, you should know that Intel has 2 Joule boards. We have the 570x for $ 219 and the cheaper 550x, although not too much, $ 179. But without a doubt the prices are very attractive if we take into account what they are capable of, so you will be able to have a good PC for a low price and with Ubuntu.
You can use it as a PC or server
Like Raspberry Pi 3, Joule is also being used as a PC. It is powerful enough for you to have a low-end PC or server. And now that we know that it is compatible with Ubuntu we could not have better news.
What do you think about Intel Joule? Are you willing to change Raspberry?
