Intel's Broadwell-E processors have just hit the market and the manufacturer is already thinking about new chips that will come to succeed them. Recall that currently the i7-6950X is the maximum exponent for the domestic environment with 10 cores and a price of around 1800 euros.
Intel will debut the new LGA-2066 platform for the most advanced processors ever created
With Broadwell-E the LGA-2011v3 platform has been reused together with the X99 chipset to maintain compatibility with Haswell-E based equipment. The next generations I ntel Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X will mean the premiere of the new HEDT platform that will be based on the LGA-2066 socket and a new chipset and that will hit the market in late 2017.
In the third quarter of 2017, the Kaby Lake X and Skylake-X series will hit the market, the first being a single-core processor aimed at achieving very high levels of overclocking, its features will include 16 PCIe tracks, a TDP content 112W and will support dual-channel DDR4-2400 and DDR4-2666 memory.
A step ahead will be the Skylake-E that will increase the number of PCIe 3.0 tracks to a maximum of 44 compared to the 40 that we can find in the current Broadwell-E. These new processors will maintain a 140W TDP along with Turbo Boost 3.0 technology and 2400 or 2666 MHz four-channel DDR4 memory. Intel Skylake-E processors will arrive with a number of cores between four and ten.
