Intel's Lakefield processors will not only debut with the Foveros 3D package, but will also introduce a new nomenclature, according to a UserBenchmark list detailing the alleged specifications of the Intel Core i5-L16G7.

Intel Lakefield, New Core i5-L16G7 CPU Discovered

Using the letter L is probably Intel's way of specifying that it is a Lakefield processor. The series is also inspired by Ice Lake's naming scheme. The G with the number denotes the level of integrated graphics.

The i5-L16G7 comes with five cores and five threads with a 1.4 GHz base and 1.75 GHz boost clock. Lakefield uses a design similar to ARM's big.LITTLE architecture. The single high-performance core is accompanied by smaller, low-power cores.

In the case of the i5-L16G7, the five-core part has one Sunny Cove core and four Tremont cores. Logically, the cores will have different clock speeds. However, it is impossible to say whether the clock speeds reported by UserBenchmark belong to the Sunny Cove core or the Tremont cores.

Lakefield processors will rely on Intel's Gen11 graphics solution and have up to 64 execution units (UEs). The same unidentified chip from this new series has already passed the Geekbench 5 benchmark. The processor scored 3, 592 and 3, 659 points with the Vulkan API. This would put the Lakefield model on par with an Ice Lake i3-1005G1 dual-core chip, which scores between 3, 041 and 3, 776 points with the same API.

Lakefield has already begun to appear on devices, such as the Lenovo X1 Fold , which is slated for debut in mid-2020 for $ 2, 499. We will keep you informed.
