It appears that Intel is planning to launch its 10th generation of S and H laptop CPUs to counter Renoir in mid-March.

Tenth-generation Intel CPUs for S and H notebooks would launch in March to compete with Renoir

Renoir is expected to launch in the time frame between March and April, and is one of this year's most anticipated laptop platform releases.

The source does not specify whether these processors will be parts based on 10nm or 14nm nodes, although it probably comes first. If the 10th generation Intel S and H series of notebooks follow the prompts of existing existing 10th generation processors, then it will build on the Sunni Cove architecture, built in the 10nm process and will be essentially a very strong competitor to Renoir. Considering that AMD's Renoir is based on the 7nm process for notebooks where energy efficiency and die space savings are key, no Intel 14nm processor is going to be able to compete with these.

Assuming, then, that we are talking about chips at 10nm, then things are going to get interesting in mid-March. Although the announcement would be in the month of March, it is possible that the actual availability will be delayed for a couple of weeks. Intel's generation S and H series processors are going to start the upgrade cycle for the notebook space and should help stabilize the company in terms of process leadership and market share.

On the contrary, if it is 14nm processors, things could get very difficult. Renoir would easily win any chip at 14nm in terms of performance and availability, and the company would have to further cut prices to maintain market share.

In any case, March is not so far on the horizon, so we will know in a short time if Intel will be able to fight against the APU Ryzen 4000 series.
