If you think that the current Intel processors for the 2011 LGA socket are large, you will be surprised by the new Intel LGA 3647 Knights Landing platform focused on the professional sector and with large, very very large processors.

That's how impressive the Knights Landing LGA 3647 socket is.

Intel Knights Landing and socket LGA 3647 have dimensions four times higher than the current Broadwell-DE of the Intel Xeon D platform, with such dimensions processors with a maximum of 28 cores and a TDP of only 160W are expected for stratospheric performance and great energy efficiency. Intel Knights Landing includes a DDR4 hexa channel memory controller to provide tremendous bandwidth.

The Intel Knights Landing processor shown used a passive heatsink capable of handling a TDP of up to 200W, not surprising seeing the enormous size of the base that such a heatsink must have to cover the entire IHS of the chip. It is more than clear that this has broken the record in terms of CPU size, next to it the Skylake-X processors and Kaby Lake-X look like a toy. Who knows if with such a CPU size the cutreports will be able to move smoothly?
