Intel optane 3d xpoint, a ssd in dimm ddr4 format
Intel has taken advantage of the Oracle OpenWorld conference to show its Intel Optane 3D Xpoint SSD equipped with the revolutionary 3D Xpoint memory technology that will replace NAND Flash in the future to offer much better SSD storage units.
The Intel Optane 3D Xpoint is a 3D Xpoint memory and NVMe protocol based SSD that is built in a DDR4 DIMM format to be installed in one of these RAM memory slots. With this, it manages to get rid of the bottleneck of all current SSDs, reaching impressive performance figures.
Installing the SSD in a DDR4 DIMM slot allows you to communicate directly with the processor's memory controller for unprecedented performance. Intel Optane 3D Xpoint improves random data access time 7.13 times and latency 8.11 times less.
Without a doubt we are facing the greatest revolution in terms of storage devices since the arrival of SSDs on the market.
