Intel pentium silver j5005 achieves the performance of the core 2 quad q6600

There are many who fondly remember one of the most successful processors of the pre-Intel Core generation, the Core 2 Quad Q6600. This was Intel's most popular quad-core processor in the pre-Nehalem LGA775 era, which has just been overtaken by the Intel Pentium Silver J5005, one of Intel's new low-power chips.

More than a decade later, Intel's low-power Pentium Silver J5005 quad-core processor, which enthusiasts will not consider at all, appears to have reached the performance of the Q6600. Some benchmarks of this processor have been seen in Passmark, sent by a Reddit , which compares the J5005 with the Q6600, in which the latter is finally beaten. It is interesting to note that the J5005 is operating at just 1.50 GHz, compared to the 2.40 GHz of the Q6600. Its TDP is rated at just 10W, compared to the Q6600's 95-105W.

We must take into account that the Q6600 came out in 2007 manufactured in a 65 nm process, it had 4 cores and it had 8 MB of L2 cache. It has taken more than 10 years for a low consumption chip to be able to beat this monster of yesteryear.
