Intel could be preparing a 5.1 ghz processor as standard

Anonim

For several years now, the race for GHz in processors has reached a fairly calm state, we have continued to see frequency increases, but nothing as remarkable as years ago. This could change with the arrival of an Intel processor over 5 GHz as standard.

Intel could be preparing a new Xeon processor at a serial frequency of 5.1 GHz, it would be a quad-core processor and eight processing threads. This new processor would belong to the E5-2600 V4 family and would include 10 MB of L3 cache and a maximum TDP of 165W.

Currently the home processor launched on the market with the highest operating frequency is the AMD FX 9590, a chip that runs at 5 GHz turbo speed and has an excessive TDP of 220W. A chip that has not been successful due to its exaggerated power consumption and the great heat given off and a performance that does not match the Intel Core i7, much more efficient (and expensive, let it be said).

A pity that it is not a processor oriented for domestic use, a Core i7 at 5.1 GHz would give a very high performance, a frequency that not all K models can reach.
