Intel has made the official announcement of the new range of processors 'Kaby Lake' during CES 2017, which is being held in Las Vegas. In total there are more than 40 new processors between Intel Core and Intel Xeon for workstations.

Kaby Lake arrives to replace Skylake with the same 14-nanometer manufacturing process, in a sort of intermediate way until the arrival of Cannonlake, which will be around 10 nanometers. These processors are not only equated for the retail sector (general public), they will also be present in the signaling, industrial IoT or medicine sector.

Kaby Lake series:

The family, in turn, will be divided into series, which will determine its characteristics of high performance or focused on low consumption:

Y series

With a 4.5W TDP, you 'll be clearly focused on low power for 2-in-1 devices, detachables and Compute Stick.

U series

The U series increases the performance and the TDP to 15W, they are still focused on 2-in-1 portable devices and mini-Pcs.

H series

This series will have a TDP of 45W and will offer the highest performance for laptops and mobile workstations, at the cost of higher consumption.

S series

It will be destined for desktops, All-in-One and powerful mini-Pcs.

K series

The K series will be the one that offers the most power (as it happened in previous generations) and it is these processors that will come with the multiplier unlocked to perform incredible overclocking like this.

In the official statement, Intel highlights the following:

''… Up to 20% performance on gaming laptops; 25% on desktop computers; With 4K and 360a content, users can expect up to 65% faster performance on laptops and 35% faster on desktops . ”

With the arrival of Kaby Lake, a new 4K content display engine has also been included on integrated HD GPUs and Iris Plus. In addition , hardware acceleration VP9 and HEVC 10 bits are added.
