Intel is overtaken by tsmc in the semiconductor industry

Table of contents:
Intel has long been the bright star in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, with a seamlessly integrated product design and vertical manufacturing scheme. Intel has always stood out for being one of the few companies capable of developing its architectures and adapting its manufacturing facilities to its design characteristics, ensuring a perfect marriage between design and manufacturing.
TSMC strips Intel of semiconductor leadership
AMD was also a fully integrated company in the past, but decided to spin-off its manufacturing division to survive after the serious financial problems in which it was plunged with the purchase of ATI, GlobalFoundries was born from this split.

Now Mehdi Hosseini, an analyst at Susquehanna, claims that Intel has lost its leadership in semiconductors, and has a multitude of problems with its 10nm node which is technically more advanced than some 7nm implementations that are expected to be offered to the market by its competitors. However, there is one area where Intel will no longer be able to claim its leadership, it is the manufacturing techniques that include EUV (Extreme UltraViolet).
Intel reportedly decided to postpone its EUV efforts for other processes, regardless of the development of its 7nm process. TSMC seeks to develop 7nm and 7nm + manufacturing processes, where only the latter will have EUV integration, a way to divide costs and reduce dependence on a still exotic technology. While Samsung and TSMC are looking towards some level of EUV integration in 2019, Intel is looking towards 2021.
TSMC is the company that seems to be winning the most cutting edge design awards thanks to better 7nm process technology performance, lower power consumption and better area density.
