Intel will solve meltdown and specter at the silicon level this year 2018
Table of contents:
Brian Krzanich, CEO of Intel, has revealed that the company plans to launch its new products this year 2018 with a silicon level solution for the serious Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities.
The fix for Meltdown and Specter at the silicon level will not come soon
This silicon-level solution for Meltdown and Specter will appear in products that are released by Intel later this year 2018, which means that the rest of the Coffee Lake processors that are released this year 2018 do not include such correction.
Best processors on the market (January 2018)
Unfortunately, Intel has not elaborated on these silicon-level fixes, we don't know if the problem will be alleviated or if it will be completely eliminated instead. It will most likely come first, as a true solution would require significant changes in speculative execution and prediction, changes that would be difficult to implement in products that are less than a year from launch. Intel will need to clarify exactly what these changes will accomplish, as the company's response to the matter is now unclear.
Overclock3d fontSecurity is a priority for Intel, fundamental to our products, and fundamental to the expansion of our data-centric strategy. Our short-term focus is to provide high-quality mitigations to protect our clients' infrastructure against these exploits. We are working to create silicon-based changes for future products that directly address hardware threats, those products will start appearing later this year.
Amd zen 2 will solve silicon-level specter
Lisa Su has taken the opportunity to remember that AMD processors will see the Specter vulnerability fixed with the arrival of Zen 2 in 2019.
Intel modifies at silicon level its future processors thinking about meltdown and specter
Intel will add protection barriers against Specter and Meltdown vulnerabilities in the new processors it puts on the market.
Intel talks about specter and meltdown, in addition to its processes at 14 nm and 10 nm
In a recent conference call with JP Morgan, Intel has addressed issues like 10nm production, 14nm longevity, and Specter / Meltdown vulnerabilities in great detail.
