Just a few weeks ago, Apple launched its new iPhone 11 smartphones in their normal version, PRO and PRO MAX. He caught me on vacation in New York and I was surprised by the fact that the vast majority of people had a little apple phone. With the new models, curiosity began to pique me… In addition, that added that a couple of friends were going to buy it, so I decided to give Apple a chance in its line of smartphones.

I chose the iPhone 11 because it is the cheapest model of those launched and because I think it will be the TOP sales of the brand until the next generation. I was also struck by its size and its main characteristics, as they seemed quite compensated. And here we are, doing the review. Is this iPhone 11 worth it? All this and much more in our analysis. Here we go!

iPhone 11 technical characteristics

Unboxing

Apple again uses classic packaging, which we have already seen in the last generations of iPhone, where we see the back of the mobile on the cover of the box. While, in the back area appears the technical information of the product and the storage capacity of our device.

We miss a phone case, but hey, it's Apple, if we want something more, we have to go through the box. What we do not understand is that as in 2019 we have a 5W charger when Android phones for 300 euros have a charger of 15 or more watts.

IPhone 11 design: one of lime and the other of sand

This iPhone 11 is the successor to the iPhone XR, and unsurprisingly, it has a very similar design and features. At first glance we see its generous black frames on its screen. Without a doubt, it is the most negative point of this terminal.

In Spain the colors black, white, green, purple, red and yellow are available. It is clear that it is the most daring version and focused on the young user. Having the iPhone 11 PRO and MAX PRO for more enthusiastic users who need more battery, screen quality and a set of high-performance cameras. In these models we only have 4 colors (space gray, silver, gold and a new one called midnight green).

As we can see in the image, on the new Iphone, we have a rather large notch.

Keep in mind, that in the rear area of ​​the terminal the two rear cameras are quite flat out, so I recommend that you buy a cover that covers this. In itself, the terminal is quite thick, when we install a case, it will lose the charm of the iPhone but we will have our mobile well protected.

The feeling in hand as always is very good, something almost widespread in all smartphones that use glass. It doesn't slip at all but it gets quite dirty. In our case we have chosen the color red, for obvious reasons, since we spend € 849 unless a small% goes to a good cause. Also, do we love the color?

As we have discussed, the iPhone 11 is the intermediate version in size of the PRO and PRO MAX, and we quickly noticed this on its 6.1-inch screen with 19.5: 9 aspect ratio. The measures he signs are 75.7 mm wide x 150.9 mm high x 8.3 mm thick with a highly achieved weight of 194 g. It is a considerably smaller terminal and whose lateral edges are not curved, obtaining a very fair useful surface of 80%. The battery reaches 3110 mAh and knowing how iOS works promises us a good autonomy, thanks to its software and hardware.

Now we are going to go to see the sides of the iPhone 11. This translates into a double multimedia speaker located in the lower area, where we will have great clarity in sound and also with Dolby Atmos technology.

We are also in the lower area with a lightning connection, it seems that Apple has not yet realized that the ideal is to use a USB C connection to try universality all connections. The right side for its part, has the lock button and that of our assistant Siri.

We have a screen with 6.1-inch IPS LED technology that gives us an FHD resolution of 828 x 1792 p, giving us a density of 324 ppi, perhaps a little low for some, but for day to day, we consider that it looks great. We have a notch large enough to be in 2019 and it only allows us to view one or two notifications. Apple wants us to quickly use the unlock to see notifications on the screen.

We have an image quality according to what we should ask a high-end mobile, with a very good color representation and a very high contrast. We also have HDR10 compatibility, something very interesting for gaming or content playback.

Sound without news

This Iphone 11 has a double speaker system in the lower area that gives us a very good quality stereo sound. It also includes Dolby Atmos surround sound technology for headphones.

It reaches a fairly high volume, it is surprising because it is one of the terminals that we have best heard in this way, a clear sound without distortion. FaceID and your security on iPhone 11

Since the iPhone 6S Plus I did not test an Apple mobile and the truth is that I was surprised by how well FaceID is doing. We believe that it is at a higher level than other high-end Android terminals on the market. Perhaps, not having a fingerprint reading on the screen, seems to us a mistake, but with facial recognition we quickly forget about it.

The recognition is done with the camera located on the front and without retractable technology, it makes the process take tenths of a second to complete. It has rarely failed us, only in very dark situations (without light, at night and in the room). It even works with sunglasses. In the event that it does not work, we can always put the password that we assigned to our mobile during its initial configuration.

Hardware and performance TOP

Apple stands out for the performance offered by its new iPhone 11 series in all its models. Since we have an Apple A13 Bionic 6-core processor: 2 of them Vortex at 2.5 GHz and another 4 Tempest at 1.59 GHz. It is accompanied by an Apple 4 core GPU and a 4 GB LPDD4X RAM working at high speeds. The difference with the Snapdragon 855 Plus is quite noticeable, we can already say that, we have the power of a home computer in our pocket.

In storage we also have capacities of 64, 128 and 256 GB of space, but these cannot be expanded. This time they have used the latest generation of UFS 3.0 flash memory , which is twice as fast as the previous UFS 2.1. Obtaining transfers of up to 2, 666 MB / s.

We have carried out several performance tests with the AnTuTu Benchmark, 3DMark and GeekBench programs, since we are facing a very high performance terminal and comparable to the best on the market.

As many of you know, benchmarks are of little use for a smartphone, but they always help to measure "certain" performances and separate each smartphone by range. Our gaming tests were with Asphalt 9: Legends and PUBG and as we expected they were very good. With great performance and great fluidity. Of course, we note that the terminal warms up a little in the lower area.

IOS 13 operating system

Accustomed to Android for many years… entering the Apple world has taken me a little time, that's why we have published the review a little later than the rest.

Here we have iOS 13, with a super fluid layer, without performance problems (it has not given me any error) and that with each passing day you become more at it. It is true that I long for Android customization, but it is compensated by how well it goes and its battery management.

Since its launch, we have had several updates due to the numerous failures in the different devices. But I have not seen any complaints with the iPhone 11, PRO and PRO MAX models. All being with mobile phones from previous generations.

We are missing a game mode to evade our notifications and take full advantage of the potential of the processor. At the moment iOS 13 has convinced me, and everything indicates, that this will be my main mobile for a long time.

Dual camera for iPhone 11

Taking into account that the iPhone XR only had one camera and it was not a panacea either, incorporating a second camera dramatically improves all our photographs, for the "iPhone entry".

Its rear camera, finally, competes among the best

Starting at the back, we have a double sensor, yes, no triple camera, we leave those to their older brothers. The main sensor is an Apple iSight Camera (11) with a 1.8 focal length and CMOS type. We go down to the second sensor, which is a wide angle and has a focal length of f / 2.4. All this is accompanied by an excellent LED flash that illuminates that gives pleasure, in flashlight mode.

iPhone 11 skips the x2 zoom, and welcomes the wide-angle. Quite a success, since we see more usable a zoom x5.

As for typical functionalities, we have a good level autofocus, support for automatic HDR, optical image stabilization in the first sensor and a digital one in the second, which works excellently.

Thanks to the powerful hardware we have, this sensor is capable of recording in 4K at 60 FPS. In addition to offering slow motion at 240 FPS and its Time-Lapse mode. The truth is that both offer excellent performance.

The application of the new iPhone camera is a delight, we have a multitude of options and some are somewhat hidden, but little by little you are getting used to them. Shooting is fast, photos are great in bright light, and portrait mode for people is great. As we can see in the images.

Where he leaves the most to be desired is when we shoot in portrait with animals, where we see that the detail does not take it so well. This is something unforgivable in the time we live since, many of us regularly upload photos of our pets to social networks.

In low-light night scenes, he has performed seriously well, but he's far from his older brothers and Huawei's P and Mate series. But hey, if you are not very "picky" it is a very drinkable option. To me, at least, it was not worth buying the other Iphone 11 series for its high price.

High level front camera, but it lacks “chicha”

And then we will see in more detail the front camera that has a resolution of 12.2 Mpx and that although it is not at the height of the rear cameras, it takes some very bad photos.

The sensor work is excellent and displays the image in great detail and with natural colors and no overexposure. You can draw your own conclusions in the previous samples.

IPhone 11 battery and connectivity

We enter one of the sections where our dear little apple gives us one of lime and the other of sand. It has a battery with a capacity of 3110 mAh and a fast charge of 18W with Fast Charge technology. The charger that brings us, is 5W, bone, turtle speed.

Gentlemen of Apple… What are you telling me! You have put in the package a charger from 5 years ago and that charges the phone in almost 3 and a half hours. Obviously, this is a very negative point, and while we are here, I recommend you buy a wireless charger like this Nillkin that works great.

During the time we have used it, the autonomy has been quite high thanks to the efficiency of its processor and the FHD resolution of its 6.1-inch screen. What figures have we obtained? With normal use, it lasts about two days without charging (it reaches the second night with 7%) and the screen hours are about 6 and a half to 7 hours. When we start playing, the times drop, but it is logical.

Use of the last 24 hours (was day 2)

We still have to review the connectivity of the iPhone 11, which is quite extensive and with notable improvements in the location section. We have Bluetooth 5.0 LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n / ac connection in 2.4 and 5 GHz with Wi-Fi MIMO, support for Wi-Fi access point and Wi-Fi Direct . As for the geolocation we have A-GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, QZSS, which are practically all the technologies available today.

It also includes NFC for mobile payment, something that is mandatory in a high range like this and that works very well. We really liked how it works with ING and BBVA. From 10! The iPhone 11 has left us a great taste in the mouth. It has several features that make it very comfortable for the consumer: design, performance, decent cameras and a very fluid operating system. Without a doubt, one of the terminals of the year and with a wide variety of colors.

In the photographic section we have seen an improvement over the iPhone XR. Incorporating two lenses, where one of them is dedicated to get a wide angle that offers excellent performance. Autonomy is one of its strengths. With "normal" use we can take 6 and a half hours off the screen and thus speed up two days of use without much effort. Remember that it has the same processor as the iPhone PRO and MAX PRO, if you don't care about photography, this is your terminal with iOS.

Among its improvements we find: considered thickness and weight close to 200 grams, a lot of frame on its screen (it seems that we are dealing with a 2017 mobile), the camera is not at the level of the Google Pixel, it does not have USB Type C and the charger it is only 5 W.
