Unboxing and design

The Kingston Mobilelite Duo 3C comes in a small plastic and cardboard blister from which we can see the product perfectly before buying it. The manufacturer indicates compatibility with USB 3.1 Type A and Type C ports as well as MicroSD type HC and XC memory cards. We are also told that it has a two-year warranty.

Kingston has provided us with a high performance MicroSD HC memory card for this review, it is a 32 GB drive with a reading speed of 90 MB / s and a writing speed of 80 MB / s. As indicated in the blister, it is a card suitable for 4K video recording. We greatly appreciate the brand for this gesture.

We take the Kingston Mobilelite Duo 3C out of its packaging and see the device itself accompanied by a small strap that will serve to attach it to our keys or to any other place so that we always have it on hand. It also serves to keep the protective cover of the reader together so that we do not lose it.

If we look more closely we see that it is a very compact device with a minimalist design but that perfectly fulfills its function. The brand logo has been printed on the front and the EU quality certificates on the back. We can see how the USB 3.1 type A port is exposed while the USB 3.1 type C port is hidden by the blue protective cover.

We see more of its ports, some may be wondering where is the slot to put the memory card, it is just above the USB 3.1 type C port so we will not see it until we remove the protective cover.

Once we have warmed up engines seeing the external appearance of the Kingston Mobilelite Duo 3C, it is time to analyze what is really important, since it is useless for a device to be beautiful if it does not comply later… To analyze its speed we have used the memory card that has provided the brand and we have done transfer tests between it and a 240 GB Corsair Neutron XT SSD.

For the test, a 1.89 GB.avi file has been chosen and it has been copied first from the SSD to the Kingston Mobilelite Duo 3C and then vice versa, this has been the result obtained:

As we can see the performance is excellent and is capable of fulfilling what was promised by the manufacturer in the speed of the memory card that has been attached to us.

After analyzing the Kingston Mobilelite Duo 3C we can safely say that it is one of the best MicroSD card readers that we can find on the market if not the best. It offers us a high quality design and is compatible with all types of devices thanks to its two USB 3.1 type A and type C interfaces. Its use is extremely simple as we only have to remove the cover to put a memory card and it will be ready to use it.

Its performance is excellent and you will have no problem working with the fastest cards on the market, you could not expect less seeing that it uses the advanced USB 3.1 interface with a speed of up to 10 Gb / s. As we have seen moving files of several GB it will only take a few seconds so we have a really practical accessory.
