Krom kernel review in Spanish (complete analysis)

Krom Kernel is a very cheap mechanical keyboard that we can find for sale in the Spanish market, which gives us the peace of mind of having a two-year warranty. This keyboard is built with an aluminum body and set by a really elegant floating key design. Despite being very economical, it does not give up good quality switches such as the Outemu and an advanced RGB LED lighting system.

Krom Kernel arrives inside a cardboard box in which black and orange predominate, the two corporate colors of the brand, on the front we see a great image of the keyboard along with its most important characteristics such as its RGB lighting system and the mechanical character of this keyboard. On the back, its most important specifications are detailed in several languages, including Spanish.

We open the box and we find the documentation, this consists of a warranty card and a quick use guide, this second one will come in handy to learn all the keyboard control functions through the key combinations, we will talk about this later.

Finally we see the Krom Kernel in the foreground, it is a complete keyboard that includes the numerical part on the right, making it perfect for users who need to make intensive use of this part. Despite being a full keyboard, it is very compact with dimensions of just 445.4 x 22.5 x 133.5 mm, this has been possible thanks to a design that optimizes space a lot by reducing the frames to a minimum. The only downside that some users may put is that it does not have any type of wrist rest, something that on the other hand is logical since its sale price is very tight.

The Krom Kernel is based on a very solid aluminum structure, it is a keyboard that has been designed to be very durable, the use of aluminum also gives it greater stability on the table as it is heavier than plastic. The manufacturer has opted for a floating key design, this means that the switches are placed directly on the aluminum base without any unevenness, which gives it a very elegant appearance and makes cleaning easier.

Just above the number block we see the brand logo next to the LED indicators for the numeric keypad lock, the caps lock and the gaming mode that deactivates the Windows key to avoid accidental minimizations in the middle of the game.

Beneath the keys are the Outemu Red switches, these are an imitation of the acclaimed Cherry Red but much cheaper and retain almost all of their features. They are linear and very smooth mechanisms with an activation force of 50 cN, have an activation stroke of 2 mm and a maximum stroke of 4 mm. These are switches specially indicated for video games, although they are perfectly valid for other tasks such as writing, in fact, preferring one or the other is more a matter of taste and preference.

The Krom Kernel is based on a simple but ergonomic design, as almost all keyboards are wedge-shaped to improve comfort when using it.

A key extractor has been included on the back to help us remove them, very useful for cleaning the keyboard and keeping it as it was the first day. The two lifting legs and the four non-slip rubber feet are also appreciated to make it more stable on our desk.

The braided cable has a length of 1.8 meters and ends in a gold-plated USB connector, this improves contact and prevents corrosion of the metal over time. The rest of the Krom Kernel features include on-the-fly macro creation, anti-ghosting function, and 11 keys with multimedia function to have the most used controls always at hand. The latter are integrated into the F1-F11 keys, to use them we only have to press one of these while maintaining the FN key, typical of all modern keyboards.

It is time to talk about the Krom Kernel RGB LED lighting system, the keyboard does not include any software, so everything is managed through key combinations. Pressing the FN + Print Screen keys for 5 seconds will automatically light the Delete (Red color), End (Green color) and Page Advance (Blue color) keys. With them and with the keys Insert, Home and Re Page we will move in a very simple way through the color spectrum of the keyboard. To reset the configuration to its factory state, just press FN + ESC and then consecutively F1, F3 and F5.

Krom has also included several profiles specific to games, to access them we only have to press and hold the FN key and then press the keys 1-5 at the top, these are the results obtained.

Final words and conclusion about Krom Kernel

Krom Kernel arrives on the market with the intention of demonstrating that a good mechanical keyboard does not have to be worth more than 100 euros, something that it has achieved perfectly. The keyboard has a robust and attractive design, the lighting system puts the finishing touch to make it look spectacular on our game or work table. Also the lighting is quite powerful, we have seen many more expensive keyboards with poorer lighting so we can only congratulate Krom for it.

The quality has not been neglected in any aspect, its Outemu mechanisms are of very good quality and they assure us that we have a keyboard for many years, the manufacturer promises 50 million keystrokes per key, logically we have not been able to prove if this is true, but if that we can tell you that the touch is very pleasant and they have not shown any type of failure.

Finally, its management through key combinations is really very comfortable, this means that the keyboard does not depend on any specific operating system, we also save ourselves from having a program in the background consuming system resources.

Krom Kernel is for sale for an approximate price of 60 euros in VS Gamers, nobody gives more for that price.
