We continue to analyze the new generation of peripherals from Krom, Nox's specialized gaming brand. Today we bring you the complete review of the Krom Kolt, a gaming mouse that offers a completely symmetrical design while attractive, great features and a very tight selling price, brand of the house.

Unboxing and design

The Krom Kolt mouse has arrived in a cardboard box with the typical appearance of the brand's products. The manufacturer has used the entire surface of the box to put various high-resolution images of the mouse, as well as all its specifications and the most important features. We open the box and find the mouse inside a plastic blister for better protection.

We now focus our eyes on the Krom Kolt mouse, it reaches measures 125 x 66 x 39 mm with a weight of 120 grams with the cable, a fairly light weight that will give us a good compromise between agility and precision of movement. The body of the mouse is made of very good quality black plastic, a material that maintains light weight and a low production cost. This mouse offers a totally symmetrical design, so it will adapt equally well to the right hand as to the left.

The Krom Kolt includes a connection cable with a length of 1.8 meters, is braided to offer greater resistance and ends in a gold-plated USB connector to improve contact and prevent corrosion. A detail that is common in the brand.

We look at the top, we find the two main buttons next to the scroll wheel and two additional buttons to change the DPI mode of the sensor on the fly. The main buttons hide some very good quality OMRON switches, so we have a mouse for a long time. The scroll wheel is rubberized, thus improving the grip on the finger and preventing it from slipping when using it.

On each of the sides we find two additional programmable buttons, these have a hard and firm touch, denoting a good build quality. Below the buttons we see a textured area to improve the grip on the hand when using the mouse. This design makes the Krom Kolt different from most mice on the market, which only have buttons on one side.

We got to the bottom, this is where the Avago A3050 optical sensor hides with a maximum sensitivity of 4000 DPI, a sampling rate of 60 IPS and an acceleration of 20G. It is a modest sensor, but it has optical technology for better 1: 1 tracking of hand movements. The manufacturer has included two large Teflon surfers to aid smooth mouse gliding.

Krom Kolt Software

The Krom Kolt mouse works with the new software of the company, it is an application that we can download from its official website and that will allow us to manage all the parameters of the mouse in a very simple way. Once we installed the application we opened it and we found a very well organized interface, which is great.

The application is divided into several sections, the first of which allows us to assign the functions of the eleven programmable mouse buttons, we can select multimedia functions, keyboard functions, macros, Windows shortcuts, launch applications and some more. It also includes a complete macro manager so that we can get the most out of it. The next section corresponds to lighting, being an RGB system we can choose between 16.8 million colors, it also offers various light effects, as well as the possibility of adjusting the intensity and speed of the effect.

Finally, we have the performance sections, here we can adjust the sensitivity of the sensor from 250 DPI to 4000 DPI in its five available profiles, in addition to the polling rate and cursor speed, double click and scroll.

Krom Kolt is a new mouse that comes to the market to stand out, its best asset is a symmetrical design and an optical sensor that works really well. The mouse is very comfortable in the hand and its construction shows a good level of quality in all aspects, from its body to the buttons that feel quite good. The Avago A3050 sensor works quite a bit and performs much better than laser sensors, which have trouble tracking the movement of the hand 1: 1.

This sensor is also capable of working quite well on a multitude of surfaces, although it must be said that in this sense it is one step behind its older brothers. Incompatibility with some surfaces is the main weak point of optical sensors, although in this case it works well on the wooden table without the need for a mat.

The software is very well worked, its interface is clear and very easy to use, so we have no complaints in this regard. What we did not like is that it is not translated into Spanish, something that should be fixed with an update. We also say once again that Krom should think about unifying all its products in a single software.
