Earlier this week, Microsoft released the Windows 10 update for the month of October (version 1809), the second major system update for this year, and one that has not come without problems as usual.

Intel Drivers Cause Problems in New Windows 10 Update

PC Watch noticed something funny when it came to getting the new version of Windows through Windows Update on your laptop. The process was using too much battery power, and the update process was interrupted by an incompatible driver dialog box. Intel processors running on Gen 9.5 and later iGPUs enabled in Skylake and later expose an integrated audio driver to the operating system. This controller is responsible for the digital audio output through the iGPU's HDMI and DisplayPort connectors, and is similar to the one that Nvidia and AMD integrate into their discrete GPUs.

Users with driver version 10.25.0.3 or earlier for this driver may experience problems when Windows Update reloads drivers as part of the upgrade process. Intel has already released driver version 10.25.0.10 to fix the problem. If you are still on Windows 10 version 1803 and are using your iGPU, it is recommended that you update your Intel graphics drivers before updating Windows 10 to the new version.

In the previous big Windows 10 update in the spring, problems appeared with some Intel SSDs, which prevented the installation of the operating system. The problems are nothing out of the ordinary in the new versions of Windows 10, it is best not to be in a hurry to update, and to let the problems that appear appear to be solved before.
