When AMD released its Radeon Software 18.12.2 controller earlier this month, it added support for new features, low-latency VR streaming for independent VR glasses like the Samsung GearVR, Google Daydream, HTC Vive Focus, and Oculus Go, using SteamVR to do what.

AMD 'lies' on one of their slides regarding Oculus Go

The problem here is that the AMD app requires SteamVR, which means the company's Radeon ReLive for VR app doesn't meet Oculus Store requirements, so the app isn't available on Oculus devices. This means that the AMD slide below is bogus, but that does not mean that AMD Radeon ReLive for VR is not compatible with Oculus devices. Oculus is unlikely to back down on this, making future support for Oculus devices dependent on an AMD software revision.

Right now, AMD's ReLive VR streaming has a few other restrictions, requiring Windows 10 to work properly, as well as a router that is capable of offering 802.11ac (5GHz) wireless connectivity.

Considering AMD's marketing materials, it's clear that the company's app works on Oculus devices, with the only pitfall coming in the form of Oculus policies. While alternative PC streaming apps to VR glasses are available on Oculus devices, AMD's solution promised low-latency performance, which is highly beneficial for these types of devices running wirelessly.

We will see what solution they can bring us from both ends, on the AMD side and on the Oculus side.
