During the opening speech of Computex 2019, AMD presented its new series of Navi RX 5000 graphics cards there without giving too many details about models and specifications, but if they made something very clear, they would use a new technology called RDNA that would replace architecture GCN.

Navi will use a hybrid configuration between the RDNA and GCN architectures

Well, this will not be exactly the case, since Navi will use a hybrid configuration between the RDNA and GCN architectures. This will be the step prior to the full use of RDNA just for next year, when the first copies of Navi 20 arrive .

We know that AMD Navi GPUs are built with TSMC's 7nm process node, making it about half the size of its competitors. AMD confirms that the number of streaming processors has not yet changed, which remains at 64 shaders per calculation unit, however each of the Navi Compute units will run faster with higher IPC and higher efficiency.

Navi is 25% faster in terms of IPC and 50% more efficient. The RDNA also includes new changes to cache and memory, such as reduced latency, higher bandwidth, and lower power.

In this way, 'RDNA' paves the way for AMD's next-generation GPUs, but it appears that the redesigned Navi chip still has some of the features of the GCN (Graphics Core Next) design, if only a little.

Navi 20, expected to arrive next year, is expected to be the first generation of graphics with full RDNA architecture, definitely leaving GCN behind.

AMD was at Computex showing the RX 5000, where RX 5700 proved to be faster than RTX 2070.
