As DRAMeXchange points out in its latest report, the NAND Flash memory market will once again be more balanced from an economic point of view, which is why both RAM and SSD will see their prices reduced over the coming year.

Specifically, it seems that the demand for Flash NAND memories has exceeded the supply for six consecutive quarters since the third quarter of 2016, according to research by this organization that is part of TrendForce.

3D NAND memories will represent more than 70% of total sales of Flash NAND units in 2018

During this 2017, the demand for Flash NAND will continue to grow due to the increase in the memories incorporated in smartphones, in addition to the growing sales registered in the server market.

According to the same research, while Samsung will continue to be the world's largest memory provider, other providers such as SK Hynix, Toshiba-Western Digital and Micron-Intel will see a boost in memory production based on the 3D-NAND process. For this reason, the percentage of 3D-NAND products will exceed 70% of total sales of NAND Flash memory.

On the other hand, the 3D-NAND process will represent more than 50% of its total capacity until the end of this year, a figure that could touch 60 or 70% until the end of 2018.

Also, while Samsung makes use of 64-layer 3D-NAND technology, SK Hynix still uses 48-layer stacking technology that will be upgraded to 72-layer technology next year, just like in the case of Toshiba. and its partner Western Digital.

All these changes and a greater offer of 3D-NAND memories by more manufacturers is only a good sign for consumers, who will be able to buy cheaper SSDs and RAMs throughout the next year, especially between the end of January and early February 2018, an ideal time to assemble a piecemeal computer.
