AMD is determined to demonstrate the benefits of its Vega graphic architecture, which until now has not had the expected success in the high-end gaming market. Those of Sunyvale have taken advantage of their time at CES 2018 to show the Radeon Vega Mobile that will arrive very soon.

Radeon Vega Mobile confirmed

AMD has confirmed the arrival of dedicated graphics for laptops under the Vega architecture, not many details have been given about the characteristics of these graphics processors, but we can get an idea of what awaits us. One of the weak points of Vega is that its power consumption is very high, although this should not be an impediment to the success of this architecture in laptops.

One of the problems with AMD's GCN architecture is that it becomes very inefficient on very large chips, this causes consumption to get out of hand and performance is less than expected. Luckily for mid-range and low-end chips this is not so serious and GCN's energy efficiency is much better, in addition to the fact that AMD will screen the best chips and the manufacturing process will be more refined.

AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 Review in Spanish

In short, the Radeon Vega Mobile graphics will be less efficient than the Pascal but it will not be as serious as in the case of the desktop RX Vega. Proof of this is that the Vega architecture has been integrated into the new Intel Core G processors, processors that promise excellent graphics performance with reasonable power consumption.

The Radeon Vega Mobile will come with 4 and 8 GB of HBM2 memory so they will enjoy a good bandwidth to perform excellently, this will also save space on the PCB of laptops.
