Earlier this month we learned that AMD's new graphics cards based on the VEGA architecture are going to Radeon RX VEGA. As of that moment we have not been able to know anything more about it, but at the recent AMD Tech Summit event, the company ensures that its launch is very close.

Radeon RX VEGA will come with 4 to 8GB HBM2 memory

During the AMD Tech Summit, AMD previewed some information about future Radeon RX VEGA graphics cards. The first and most noteworthy thing is that they will use HBM2 memories, which have higher speeds than current GDDR5 (it is believed to be twice as fast) and with up to 5 times less power consumption.

AMD is considering marketing the new graphics cards with 4 to 8GB HBM2 memory. Apparently this type of memory would be exclusive to the new VEGA architecture and we will not see it in the new RX 500 series that is about to arrive.

Vega will also be present in laptops

The arrival of VEGA to portable devices is guaranteed and they seem to have models with enough power and energy efficiency to make it possible. They have not confirmed if the VEGA architecture will be present in the new ' Raven Ridge ' APUs but it would be strange if it did not happen.

AMD also confirmed that the VEGA memory controller could be used for data centers that require a higher amount and speed of memory than current DDR4s. In this regard, HBM2 memories allow that kind of versatility.

Sunnyvale's have been very careful to confirm a possible launch date for the Radeon RX VEGA but say it is "just around the corner."

For now, AMD is on the eve of the launch of Ryzen 5, which will be available from April 11. What do you expect from these new AMD Radeon RX Vega graphics cards?
