Lg flex: technical characteristics, availability and price

Anonim

It is official. After a series of leaks, LG has formally presented its first curved screen phone, the LG G Flex, the second smartphone on the market with this feature after the Samsung Galaxy Round. The technology that allows us to provide this flexibility to a terminal is known as OLED (Curved P-OLED). It is easily noticeable in the images that the curve described by the device is carried out from top to bottom - the Samsung model from left to right - achieving a fairly low thickness, ranging from 7.9 to 8.7 millimeters. However, we are talking about a rigid and consistent phone, although the flexibility of the screen is a necessary property to achieve the curvature.

LG G Flex, its first phone with a curved screen

The screen has a resolution of 1, 280 x 720 pixels, with RGB pixel matrix. Thanks to its curvature, it is a considerably more ergonomic smartphone when using it for any call than the usual phones, but it is not clear to us whether it will be more comfortable when putting it in a pocket.

However, as a novelty in addition to its peculiar shape, the case of our LG G Flex is made of a self -repairing material (possibly has a surface treatment), which can solve small scratches.

The weight of the terminal is 177 grams, which is not bad considering that it is a device that has a six-inch screen and great technology inside. The phone is 160.5 millimeters high x 81.6 millimeters wide. The phone has a not inconsiderable 3, 500mAh battery incorporated, with some flexibility in its structure that adapts to the new shape.

The LG G Flex opens up a world of possibilities thanks to the fact that it is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, operating at 2.26GHz, accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD).

Also not lacking are NFC support, LTE connectivity, a 13-megapixel, 2.1-megapixel rear camera on the front and physical buttons on the back .

Price and availability

The phone has been presented in the South Korean market where his native company resides, and which will go on sale in November, by the three main operators. For now, nothing is known about the price or its availability in the rest of the world, although knowing the cost of the Samsung Galaxy Round - about 1, 000 dollars (725 euros) - it is not difficult to think that it will have a high market value and within the reach of few pockets.

The terminal will bring Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean incorporated as an operating system, and hopefully with software that will get all the performance possible from its particular forms. We can therefore say that we are facing a more serious launch than the Samsung Galaxy Round, which many describe as a test, or prototype to see how the market welcomes it. For all these reasons we ask ourselves: will these curved terminals be successful?
