Unboxing of LG Gram 15Z990

The LG Gram 15Z990 is presented to us in minimalist packaging consisting of a matte white box with the Gram logo on its cover.

On the sides it is possible to see the serial number of the model that we bring you for the review as well as some quality seals and certificates.

The back of the box is completely smooth apart from the test stickers and the security seal on the back.

Once we remove the cover, the inner packaging consists of a thin cardboard mold in which we find the LG Gram 15Z990 inside a plastic protective case. Just to your right we have another box type chest where we have the rest of the components.

We start with the external aspect, and that is that the material used is a magnesium alloy reinforced with carbon nanotubes. Favoring magnesium over aluminum allows for greater lightness and also aesthetically the result is very similar.

On its cover the only thing we find is the relief of the Gram range in a reflective silver finish. It is not backlit, but the result is very visually elegant.

Continuing on the reverse, here we have a total of five surfaces with non-slip rubberized covers in a soft gray tone. In the center of the housing we have screen printed information from the manufacturer and a screen for the two integrated speakers is also observable on both sides.

The screen of the LG Gram 15Z990 is an IPS LCD model with a FHD resolution of 19020 x 1080p and 15.6 inches. It has a glossy finish, although it is not the most reflective model that we have faced. The panel is integrated into a thin matte black plastic frame.

Profile view is when we can really appreciate how thin this screen is, reaching only six millimeters thick.

In the upper part of the frame is where we unobtrusively observe the HD 720p camera guarded by two far-field microphones and what appears to be a near-field third.

Standing out an additional millimeter we find a protective rubber strip that prevents our keyboard from impacting the panel itself. The hinge structure is completely cylindrical and extends uninterruptedly along the entire rear profile of the LG Gram 15Z990.

Keyboard

From the screen, we go to the base. Here we find a complete keyboard that includes the numeric keys, being here assembled with chiclet-type switches.

The typography here has a certain thickness. The switches in the upper function strip feature details for special commands highlighted in mustard yellow while the rest of the keyboard is finished in white.

The keys of the LG Gram 15Z990 protrude slightly over the surface of the cover, which is why we find that the edges of the cover rise slightly in front of the screen. These buttons have a completely flat format with rounded edges and a matte black finish. The characters do not have a backlight, but they do convey good quality and confidence that they will not disappear with use.

Trackpad

In the same color as that used on other surfaces, we find the trackpad. This is a single piece that hides the switches of the primary buttons.

Although aesthetically identical, the touch that we will find on the trackpad is slightly softer than that of the rest of the cover, which favors the sliding of our fingers on it.

Ports and connections

On the sides of the LG Gram 15Z990 the magnesium cover continues and we can see a slight elevation in the front area to allow us to slide our fingers under it more easily when we start.

It is on both sides where we locate all the ports for connection, which consist of:

Optimal calibration and performance

Having seen the initial parameters, we proceed to perform a colorimeter calibration using the DisplayCAL software. The results obtained are generally very good, reaching 99% of the sRGB spectrum and 75.7% of DCI P3, which indicates that the colors must have a correct reliability with respect to the real reference.
