The main producers of panels for monitors and televisions are LG, AU Optronics and Samsung. All of them are capable of manufacturing the best quality IPS panels, although LG is perhaps the one that has bet the most on this technology and is already preparing for the production of IPS panels with a refresh rate of 144 Hz.

LG works on a 144 Hz UWQHD panel and an 8K panel

Until now LG has not shown much interest in manufacturing gaming- oriented IPS panels with a very high refresh rate, however, this is going to change very soon and in early 2017 the Korean firm will start producing its own 34-inch IPS panels with UWQHD resolution (3440 x 1440 pixels) and impressive 144 Hz to take the visual quality of video games to a new level. This new panel will succeed the previous LM340UW3 which has been used in some of the best monitors on the market.

Remember to consult our guide on the best monitors on the market.

These new LG panels will be available on new monitors that will hit the market around the middle of 2017. In order to take full advantage of the new LG panels, a DisplayPort 1.3 connection available on the new Nvidia Pascal and AMD Polaris graphics cards will be required.

If all this seems too little, it is also preparing for the production in the first quarter of 2017 of the world's first IPS panel with a diagonal of 31.5 inches with 8K resolution. Its specifications will continue with a response time of 14 ms, static contrast of 1300: 1, and maximum brightness of 400 nits. They will hit the market next fall.
