Linux 4.6 arrives with the code name Charred Weasel (Charred Weasel) and comes loaded with new features. First we highlight the improvement that the free AMDGPU and Nouveau drivers have received to improve stability, performance, support for the latest Maxwell GPUs and support for ACP (Audio Control Panel) in order to give compatibility to i2s audio. They are all improvements to your precious graphics card!
Dell has seen improved support for its laptops with support for Dell XPS 13 9350 (Skylake) hotkeys, the Vostro V131 has seen WMI events enabled, Dell Instant Lauch processing has been improved, and support has been improved for the Inspiron M5110. Alienware notebook owners also have reason to rejoice with initial support for their graphics amplifier, for deep hibernation control, and support for the X51-R3, ASM200, and ASM201.
We continue with improvements to Linux 4.6 with improvements in power management in AHCI and improved support for Samsung Exynos processors. Furthermore, Intel Lewisburg SATA RAID devices are no longer supported. Atheros networks also benefit from Linux 4.6 with support for qca4019 and ath9k chipsets
