A Dutch store has listed two of the future Intel Coffee Lake Refresh processors, in this case the 8-core and 16-wire model, the i9-9900K, and the 8-core and 8-wire model, the i7-9700.

Listed prices of new Intel processors

Well, those prices are 561 euros for the Intel Core i9-9900K, with 8 cores and 16 threads and a turbo frequency of 5GHz and up to 4.7GHz in all cores, and 436 euros for the i7-9700K, which loses Hyperthreading with 8 cores and 8 threads and the same turbo with up to 4.6GHz on all cores.

Prices include a VAT of 21%, the same as in Spain.

From the competition, AMD offers 8 cores and 16 threads for 290 euros with its Ryzen 2700, but most likely, we will find a 9900K that will perform significantly better due to the high frequencies it maintains with a similar or slightly higher IPC. higher than that of its competitor, so both its single-core and multi-core performance would be superior.

Given this price, there are two unknowns. The first is whether it is the true retail price, which is highly likely but by no means confirmed. The second is how long those prices will hold. This is a fairly obvious question if we remember that the i7-8700K started at between 400 and 500 euros in various stores, and it fell steadily to around 330 euros in a few months.

Let us remember, in any case, that we are in a healthy situation in the processor market since there are no reasons for large price increases as there was in the graphics card market and there is in the RAM market. Instead, the competition is fierce and both AMD and Intel want to dominate and give the best possible options.

The third generation Ryzen with Zen 2 architecture may face these offerings from Intel. We will see what happens in the coming months, but it is really remarkable that the two companies are continually in a drive to offer the best. What do you think about it?
