During Computex, a partner claimed that the upcoming mini PC products that have been previously built with U series processors will soon be upgraded to Comet Lake. An Intel partner stated that it would update the product line with the new CPUs in November, however, the retailing of those computers may not occur until a little later.

Original equipment partners will receive their Intel Comet Lake-U chips in November

There is a lot of confusion around the code names of upcoming Intel processors. There is Whiskey-Lake, Amber-Lake, and in the future Tiger-Lake. Comet Lake is believed to be a future desktop CPU (still at 14nm) targeting 15W TDP.

With this outlook, Intel is likely to have two different U-series CPU lines on the market at the same time. 9W-28W Ice Lake announced last week, presumably for premium and high-end designs, and 15W Comet Lake for the cheaper rigs.

It will be interesting to see when Intel wants to talk about Comet Lake, either in a 15W form factor or something a little bigger. We assume that everything will become clear with the passage of this year, especially when the first portable equipment with Comet Lake-U begins to filter.

Intel is still grappling with its stock issues, albeit less and less, and it will still stagnate at its 14nm process nodes.
