Following NVIDIA's announcement of its new drivers, MSI monitors are G-Sync compatible. This technology allows G-Sync to be used on monitors with Adaptive Sync.

About 19 monitors from the MSI brand are compatible with G-Sync

G-Sync, the technology designed by NVIDIA to smooth the movement of frames in video games, was unique only to monitors that had passed green company certification. With the latest version of the NVIDIA GPU driver, it is now possible to use G-Sync on monitors that support Adaptive Sync technology when connected to an NVIDIA graphics card.

At the moment, not all Adaptive Sync monitors on the market are perfectly compatible with G-Sync. Adaptive Sync monitors have been constantly tested by MSI to determine if they support NVIDIA technology.

Below are the test results:

Graphics cards used for the test:

  • MSI RTX 2070 Ventus 8GMSI RTX 2080 Ventus 8GMSI GTX 1080 Gaming 8G

System requirements to be compatible with GSync:

  • Graphics card: NVIDIA 10 series (pascal) or higher Driver version must be later than 417.71 Cable Display Port 1.2 (or higher) Windows 10

We see that a large number of monitors are fully compatible, but they warn of a limitation. Currently only one screen is supported; Multiple monitors can be connected, but no more than one display can have G Sync enabled.

This is good news for users who will now have more monitor variants to use with their NVIDIA graphics cards, and also for the MSI manufacturer itself, which will have a large number of new users willing to buy some of these monitors.
