Intel recently announced that the seventh generation of Intel Pentium Kaby Lake processors will be renamed Pentium Gold. This change affects the Intel Pentium G4560, G4620 and G4600 units. The Pentium 4560 model was considered one of the best cheap processors of 2017.

This new name change is surely inspired by the Xeon product range that has Bronze and Gold editions among its models.

Intel Pentium Kaby Lake processors will be called Pentium Gold from November 2, keeping the same specifications

The company also said that these processors will benefit from new logos and retail boxes starting on November 2, which is the time when the name change will take effect. In addition, the company also assured that these processors did not undergo any modification of specifications or their architectures.

Sales box changes are minimal. The only big difference from the front is a small title. The side of the case also received the same treatment to reflect the new designation Pentium Gold.

If we take a look at the names of the Xeon processors, Intel may continue with Silver and Bronze editions. The Pentium N5000 Gemini Lake could be the first Pentium Silver CPU to hit the market, having recently been seen among the results of benchmark portal SiSoftware Sandra.

Gemini Lake low-power processors will likely end up in the most efficient notebooks and notebooks.

Given this news, many users have expressed their concern in different forums where they assured that the new name change to Pentium Gold could confuse many consumers who are less informed and who could expect higher performance when in reality the specifications were not modified.
