AMD has taken an important step when it comes to its first-generation Ryzen 'Summit Ridge' processors. With the introduction, on April 19, of four new second-generation Ryzen “Pinnacle Ridge” processors (2700X, 2700, 2600X and 2600) AMD will remove all “Summit Ridge” processors from its product line, according to a report by Guru3D .

AMD Ryzen 2000 to replace all 9 'Summit Ridge' processors

Six '' Pinnacle Ridge '' CPUs have been marked EOL (End of Life), meaning that retailers can no longer order them from AMD. They can sell their remaining inventory, and AMD will comply with full product warranties and after-sales support to end users, but there will be no replacement anymore, being replaced by the second-generation just released.

Retired 'SKUs' include the previous generation flagship Ryzen 7 1800X, 1700X, and 1700 (not X); Ryzen 5 1600X, 1400 and finally the modest 1200. As revealed on the slide shared by AMD, the 2700X currently replaces both the 1800X and 1700X as a "high-performance 8-core" processor. The 2700 replaces the 1700 as the "8 High-Efficiency Core" CPU. The 2600X and 2600 models succeed the 1600X and 1600, respectively. The Ryzen 5 1400 is replaced by the Ryzen 5 2400G "Raven Ridge" APU equipped with a GPU, and the entry-level model 1200 by the Ryzen 3 2200G, which costs less than $ 100.

Another interesting aspect that the slide reveals, is that AMD is betting on fewer processor models (6) that cover all performance and price segments.
