It looks like bad news is coming for users who were waiting for AMD's high-performance processors named Summit Ridge and Raven Ridge that belong to the Zen architecture.

AMD Zen processors would be delayed to 2017

In a new leaked roadmap, it is seen that the processors under the Zen architecture will not arrive later this year and will be delayed to 2017, something very similar to what is happening with their graphics cards based in Vega, which is not going to arrive in 2016 either. With its delayed high-performance CPUs and GPUs, AMD is risking everything for everything in 2017 to compete against the top-of-the-range options of Intel and Nvidia.

Bristol Ridge and Stoney Ridge APUs

Meanwhile, the processors that will arrive without problems in the coming months will be the Bristol Ridge APUs with 4 physical cores and 8 logical cores thanks to Hyper-Threading technology. Bristol Ridge is aiming for a TDP of between 10W and 35W. The other APU processor will be Stoney Ridge that will use 2 physical cores and 4 logical cores with a maximum TDP of 25W. In both cases they will be compatible with DDR3 and DDR4 memories.

Summit Ridge and Raven Ridge based on Zen architecture

Over the next year AMD will launch two processors based on the Zen architecture, Summit Ridge and Raven Ridge. Summit Ridge is going to be the option for the enthusiastic sector and will have 8 physical and 16 logical cores with a consumption that will vary between 65 and 95W. Raven Ridge will use half the cores than Summit Ridge and a TDP that will start in the 35W to 95W, this option would be the cheapest of this new architecture.

The first performance tests of Zen processors are expected to be released later this year, which is currently in the hands of AMD partners.
