Forza Horizon 4 is one of the most anticipated games of this year and was awarded as the best driving game presented at Gamescom.

Forza Horizon 4 for PC will be better optimized than its predecessor

One of the main complaints around Forza Horizon 3, in its PC version, was performance. In addition to launching only in the Windows 10 store, the performance of the game required an important PC to play it at the highest quality and at high frame rates (Something like a GTX 1070 or higher to play it @ 1080p and 60 FPS) .

Forza Horizon 4 Creative Director Ralph Fulton has stated that the game will have fewer system requirements than its predecessor, Forza Horizon 3, not least thanks to ForzaTech engine optimizations.

Forza Horizon 3 was the first game in the franchise to hit PC, with some initial issues. For starters, it was difficult to get the game to run over 60 FPS as the game was facing CPU related performance issues in certain areas of the game. Although this was later mitigated with a 'multi-threading' patch, it unfortunately contributed to the bad reputation of the Windows 10 store and the UWP game format.

Although the official Forza Horizon 4 requirements have not been released yet, let's take a look at the minimum requirements for Forza Horizon 3 to get an idea.

  • CPU: i3-4170 @ 3.7GhzGPU: AMD R7 250x or NVIDIA GT 740RAM: 8GB

Among the recommended requirements, the 2016 game asked for the following;

  • CPU: Intel Core i7 3820 @ 3.6GHzNVIDIA GTX 1060RAM: 12GB

It is expected that the 'recommended' requirements will be higher, since Forza Horizon 4 will have evolved graphically with respect to two years ago and these requirements were intended to play 30 FPS, and not 60 FPS as it is getting used to today.

Forza Horizon 4 will launch on PC and Xbox One on October 2.
