Lumberyard is the graphics engine of amazon
Two years ago, Amazon surprised everyone with the purchase of Twitch for around 970 million dollars, in order to fight in the video game streaming sector, because Amazon has done it again, has launched its own engine video game graphic: Lumberyard, which will allow us to develop games for PCs, game consoles, mobile devices (IOS and Android) and even for those virtual reality platforms.
The graphics engine is completely free for the user and is now available for download, but everything is not rosy, to connect to the internet you will have to use Amazon Web Services. The technology used by this magnificent graphics engine is based by CryEngine, which has been granted by Crytek, including a character creation tool called Geppetto, a real-time editor of gameplay, a sound engine called Wwise LTX that belongs to Audiokinetic and many more tools.
Amazon highlights that it will have full support and integration with Twitch, something that I think will encourage developers to take advantage of this engine in order to get the most out of the streaming service. In my opinion, it is great news that a giant like Amazon brings out a free graphics engine, with its limitations, of course, but it will encourage many people like me who have no idea of video game programming.
