MediaTek's Helio range of processors welcomes a new member, the MediaTek Helio P22, a new model with eight Cortex-A53 cores that is manufactured at 12nm to achieve excellent energy efficiency.

MediaTek Helio P22 is the manufacturer's first mid-range chipset to enjoy TSMC's 12nm FinFET manufacturing process. All its cores are ARM Cortex-A53 of great energy efficiency, which will allow offering great autonomy to the terminals that include it. These cores can be clocked at up to 2 GHz to deliver good performance without sacrificing efficiency.

The chipset is compatible with Category 7 4G, Dual Band WiFi AC, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS. It supports displays with HD resolution and dual-sensor cameras up to 13 + 8 megapixels, or up to 21 megapixels with a single sensor. As for the GPU, it is a PowerVR GE8320 core running at 650 MHz and offering excellent behavior with all the games on Google Play.
MediaTek Helio P22 has been developed to take advantage of new uses and new services related to artificial intelligence thanks to MediaTek's own advanced NeuroPilot technology. This includes, of course, PDAs like Google Assistant. It also takes into account applications such as the camera, the image gallery and biometric protection systems, with facial recognition of the user in particular.
The processor is already in production at TSMC. It should be present on smartphones before the end of the second quarter of 2018, and we will soon be able to see it in action and know what the newest MediaTek is capable of.
