MediaTek has already announced its intention to focus this year 2018 on the mid-range smartphone market, nothing better for it than the announcement of a new processor with great features and destined to give life to cheap terminals, we are talking about the new MediaTek Helio P60.

MediaTek Helio P60

MediaTek Helio P60 is a new octa-core processor that is based on a manufacturing process at 12 nm FinFET, this chip includes no less than four ARM Cortex-A73 cores and four ARM Cortex-A53, all of them with speed of 2GHz clock. This configuration allows to deliver excellent features while taking care of energy efficiency, since the tasks that require more power can use the A73 cores, while the less demanding ones can use the A53 with a much lower energy consumption.

The GPU also improves thanks to the introduction of the new Mali-G72 MP3 chip, which operates at a clock rate of 800 MHz and offers a 70% increase in performance compared to the previous generation. There are also significant improvements to the camera with the inclusion of three ISPs that allow dual settings up to 20MP + 16MP or a single 32MP sensor to be handled. This system can also record video at up to 90 fps, which means that video can be recorded at a high framerate on a device with a contained price.

Finally we talk about the capabilities of this MediaTek Helio P60 for artificial intelligence, it allows the recognition of objects and the improvement of performance based on behavior. This system has been dubbed NeuroPilot and works with the Android neural network, and is also compatible with technologies such as T ensorFlow, TF Lite, Caffe and Caffe 2.

The first terminals with the Mediatek Helio P60 will go on sale from the second quarter of 2018.
