Micron 1300, new series of low-cost ssd sata / m.2 drives
Table of contents:
Micron has introduced a new series of SATA SSDs, designed specifically for the mass market. These Micron 1300 drives are designed to replace the Micron 1100 series, offering end users units with 96-layer TLC NAND memory and capacities ranging from 256GB to 2TB.
Micron 1300 arrives in SATA and M.2 formats
Compared to its previous-generation counterpart, the Micron 1300 offers similar specifications outside of the modern 96-layer NAND, using the Marvell 88SS1074 controller on its 2.5-inch SATA and M.2 SATA models.
Unlike the 2.5-inch version, the M.2 version of the Micron 1300 does not ship with 2TB capacity, but with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB versions. The 2.5-inch SATA model comes in capacities of 256GB, 512GB, 1, 024GB, and 2, 048GB.
Compared to the Micron 1100, the Micron 1300 offers higher levels of sequential read / write performance, offering speeds of 530MB / s and 520MB / s respectively. Thanks to the 96-layer NAND, we should get greater durability and life time for this SSD in its 2.5-inch SATA format.
Micron's 1300 series of SSDs are expected to be available to both original equipment manufacturers and consumers very soon. It would have been great to know the prices of this new series. To take it into account, the 256 GB SATA Micron 1100 costs around 80 euros in Spain currently, so that may be the price of this new series. We will keep you informed.
