Sandisk announces new series of skyhawk ssd drives
Table of contents:
SanDisk has just announced its new SkyHawk and SkyHawk Ultra SSDs, both built in 2.5-inch format at just 12mm thick. These new SanDisk drives promise truly impressive data transfer speeds.
SkyHawk with capacities up to 3.8TB
SkyHawk drives have a PCI-Express 3.0 x4 interface over U2 or SATA-Express connections and are based on an MLC NAND Flash memory manufactured in 15nm.
SkyHawk
The storage capacities of this series vary between 1920 and 3840GB of available space and offer read speeds of 1500 MB / s and 1700 in write data speed. Following up on more technical details, SkyHawk supports up to 250, 000 4K IOPS in 4K random reads and up to 47, 000 IOPS in random writes.
SkyHawk Ultra
This would become the 'Premium' drive with capacities between 1600 and 3200GB. Transfer rates are 1700 MB / s in the sequential read process and 1200 MB / s in the write process. IOPS reads reach 250, 000 and about 83, 000 IOPS in writing.
One of the main differences of this Ultra version is that it offers triple the durability of the normal version, with 1.7 DWPD (compared to 0.6 DWPD of the SkyHawk standard). If we are going to use a disc of this type exclusively to store games or other content that requires high demand, the Ultra version will probably suit us.
Both discs will be sold with a 5 year warranty. At the moment we do not know their prices and the date they landed in stores, we will keep you informed.
