Micron works on 768 gbit tlc memory chips

Anonim

Micron has presented at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) new 768 Gbit NAND TLC memory chips that could lead the way to the manufacture of SSD devices with large storage capacities at much lower prices than today.

Micron's new 768 Gbits TLC chips offer a high density of 4.29 Gb / mm2, which is a very significant increase compared to 2.6 Gb / s of Samsung's 3D NAND chips and which are considered the densest today.

These TLC chips from Micron allow to reach read rates of 800 Mb / s although its writing is much slower with about 44 MB / s. Whether these new chips will bring future high-capacity SSD drives to life has yet to be confirmed.
