Microsoft announces surface book 2 with a new 15-inch model

The Surface Book is the last member in the Surface range to be updated this year. This Monday, Microsoft has officially presented the second generation model that brings several interesting features.

First of all, it should be noted that there are only small differences in design, so the new Surface Book 2 still features the same hinge system. On the other hand, the company also markets the Surface Laptop, a device launched several months ago that brings a more traditional laptop design.

15-inch Surface Book 2

Today's biggest news is actually a 15-inch version of this convertible laptop, geared specifically for users who want the comfort of a laptop and the hardware capabilities of the Surface Book. As for the specifications, the truth is that the Surface Book 2 has nothing to envy the MacBook.

The device's 15-inch screen has a resolution of 3, 240 x 2, 160 pixels and a density of 260 DPI. The laptop also features quad-core (8th generation) Intel i7-8650u processors with a top speed of 4.2GHz in Turbo mode.

The processor is accompanied by 16GB of RAM, and users will have a choice of 3 storage options, from 256GB to 1TB of space on an SSD.

The 15-inch Surface Book 2 is great for gaming as it's equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTA 1060 graphics card with 6GB of memory. At the same time, it is also very portable and can be easily transported thanks to its weight of only 1.9kg.

13-inch Surface Book 2

The 13-inch Surface Book 2 has a 13.5-inch screen with a resolution of 3000 × 2000 pixels and 267 DPI. The base model is equipped with a dual-core Intel i5 processor (seventh generation) and 8GB of RAM.

However, the highest model in the range is equipped with the same chip as the 15-inch version along with 16GB of RAM and the same options for data storage.

In this model there are some NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics with 6GB of graphic memory, and its weight is 1.64kg.

Both models come with two USB-A ports and one USB-C port, along with the Surface Connect port, an SD card slot, 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth 4.1, a Windows Hello camera, and a backlit keyboard.

Pricing and availability

The Surface Book 2 will go on sale on November 16 with a starting price of $ 1499 for the 13-inch model and $ 2499 for the 15-inch version. The pre-booking program will start on November 9.
