Microsoft Edge continues to improve with new technologies
Microsoft Edge Preview, which is present in the Builds of the Windows Insider program, is updated with new technologies, including support for WebRTC.
WebRTC support
WebRTC is a new standard for real-time communication that is being powered by Google, Mozilla and now Microsoft. The objective of WebRTC is to allow user communication (voice chat, video calls) without the need to install any plugin, only with a JavaScript API. Edge contributes its grain of sand to make WebRTC very soon a standard.
The support for the H.264 / AVC and VP8 video codecs provides compatibility with the Microsoft Edge real-time communication stack (Microsoft Edge RTC), in addition to playing videos in this type of format from the web.
These news will reach all users with the Creators Update, which is expected in April.
