The guys at Microsoft announced last week that they would not be releasing a new patch on Patch Day in March. In fact, last month's "patch day" was also canceled for an as yet unknown reason. In other words, two patches with significant updates and improvements should have been released today. Actually, this would not be a problem in the absence of serious errors, but on February 3 a rather significant vulnerability was disclosed that affects Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows server operating systems. And what do we find instead? Only with security update KB4010250 that covers some security holes in Flash.

KB4010250 and Flash security patch

The vulnerability that it fixes today in update KB4010250 was discovered by Google in the past month. The Big G company fixed the bug in their operating systems and browser shortly after, but Microsoft, due to the delay in releasing security patches, kept this door open.

This security flaw in Flash Player is really serious. It allows attackers to escalate privileges on the machine, and could cause a serious security problem on compromised computers. However, Adobe already released the version of Flash Player 24.0.0.221 in February, which fixes the root problem, and which has also been included in the native Flash Player in Google Chrome.

As we can see in the documentation for the update (MS17-005), the security update KB4010250 resolves the security problems caused by Flash Player in the versions: Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 10, Windows 10 Version 1511, Windows 10 Version 1607, Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1.

If you have not already done so, it is highly recommended that you download and install the KB4010250 security update, to prevent any malicious software from taking control of your computer through the security flaw in Flash Player. Now we can only wait for Microsoft to resume the pace of the release of the patches.
