Microsoft has finally confirmed that it plans to release the next Windows 10 Redstone 3 in September, in an attempt to align all Windows updates with the Office productivity suite.

In a recently released announcement, Microsoft said it plans to release two versions of its operating system each year, releases that will occur in March and September.

New Windows updates will arrive in March and September

“Windows is committed to a biannual release schedule, with March and September as the best candidates for launching new versions and updates, especially since it also aligns with Office 365 Plus. The next Windows 10 update will arrive in September 2017, "said the company.

Although Microsoft did not offer details, the September date for the release of Windows 10 Redstone 3 is probably the month in which the company will finish the development of the new version. This means that only insiders will be able to test Redstone 3 in September, while the public launch will likely take place in October.

Windows 10 Redstone 3 could debut with version 1709

Windows 10 Redstone 3 RTM could be compiled as version 1709, according to the version scheme used by Microsoft, since the first two digits would represent the year and the other two the month when it will launch.

In the case of the Creators Update, the RTM build arrived with version 1703, corresponding to the year 2017 and the month of March (the third month of the year).

Microsoft also claimed that each version of Windows 10 would receive updates for a year and a half, so the Creators Update will receive updates until the arrival of Windows 10 Redstone 5.

Development work for Windows 10 Redstone 3 has already started, and Insiders of the Fast Ring can download the first builds, though the number of new features and enhancements remains very small for now.
