The software giant has not publicly announced a dark theme for File Explorer, but a very early implementation of this functionality was discovered in April.

Windows 10 build 17661, released for users enrolled in the Windows Insider program, comes with an update to this effect, as the dark theme expands into more areas of the file manager. What is important to know is that this dark visual style is not enabled by default, but can be implemented with a tool called Mach 2 to activate the features in Windows 10.

As you can see from this published screenshot, the dark theme of File Explorer has evolved, and now both the right pane and the address bar are also black.

Of course, the dark theme implementation is still lacking some work, like the blank dividing bars that don't look very good and the menus, but it's a preview, and hopefully it will be perfect for when Redstone 5 arrives on our Windows 10.
