Microsoft and Lenovo would be the first companies to launch laptops with arm processors

Microsoft released big news recently when it said that its Windows 10 platform would be compatible with ARM chipsets. This is not the first time that the company is trying this project, although the only difference is that this time it will not have to make a customized version of the operating system, as it did with Windows RT. Now, according to sources close to the matter, it seems that Microsoft will not be the only manufacturer to bring ARM chipset notebooks to the market, since Lenovo could also debut in this market soon.

Microsoft and Lenovo could launch new laptops with Snapdragon 835 processors until the end of the year

Intel will definitely face competition from AMD Ryzen processors, but ARM has also partnered with Microsoft to make Windows 10 support for mobile processors. According to several component providers, Microsoft is preparing a new Surface device with ARM chipset-based processors, while Lenovo is planning a 2-in-1 laptop with the same support.

Being more efficient and cheaper, these future computers will be considerably slower than normal laptops, but will offer greater autonomy and portability in addition to having mobile connectivity from the factory.

A Microsoft executive recently claimed that the Snapdragon 835 processor is the bare minimum needed to run Windows 10 through emulation. Although there is already a demo featuring the Snapdragon 820 SoC running the desktop version of Photoshop, it appears that the SD 835 model based on the 10nm process was chosen as the minimum hardware prerequisite.

On the other hand, notebooks with ARM chipsets could also run the Cloud version of Windows 10, so it is not confirmed exactly what type of product Microsoft plans to bring to the market.
