The MSI B350 Gaming PRO Carbon is one of those motherboards that every user values purchasing for their new PC Gaming configuration. It is aesthetically beautiful, has good components, is very competitively priced and has all the ingredients to perform very well with current AMD Ryzen 7, 5 and 3 processors.

Do you want to know if its performance is as good as MSI promises? Don't miss our review!

We thank the trust in MSI for sending the product for analysis:

MSI B350 Gaming PRO Carbon technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

The MSI B350 Gaming PRO Carbon It comes in a compact box where black color and a sports car predominate. Thanks to its cover we can quickly identify what product it is and which will do its main virtues.

While at the rear we have all the most important technical characteristics detailed. All very well illustrated and that explains in great detail its new technologies.

Inside we find the following bundle:

  • MSI B350 Gaming PRO Carbon Motherboard Back Plate Instruction Manual & Quick Guide CD Disc with Drivers SAT Cable Set Cable for LED Strips

The MSI B350 Gaming PRO Carbon is an ATX format motherboard, whose dimensions are 30.5 cm x 24.4 cm and compatible with the AM4 socket. While at the design level, the PCB is matte black that will combine very well with any component that we install.

For the most curious we leave you a picture of the back area.

The motherboard features two zones with cooling: power phases and B350 chipset. It has enough 6 phases of power certified by Military Class technology. This technology is summarized, that MSI has made a great effort to put components of very quality and that allows a great capacity of overclock.

8-pin EPS connection for extra power to the motherboard.

It has 4 available 64 GB compatible DDR4 RAM memory sockets with frequencies up to 3200 Mhz certified with the AMP profile.

The MSI B350 Gaming PRO Carbon presents a basic layout but more than enough for any user. It has two PCIe 3.0 to x16 slots and three other PCIe 3.0 connections at x1 speed. Although honestly, aesthetically it would have been better as a mATX motherboard than an ATX. That blank track gap… could have been used for another SLOT or put the M.2 Shield system.

One of the most important features of MSI in recent years has been the incorporation of the M.2 Shield Slot. This system allows you to install any disc of this format and with size 2242/2260/2280/22110 (42/60/80 and 110mm) and at the same time keep it as cool as possible. The advantages of taking advantage of this technology is that its bandwidth is 32 GB / s and we do not need any cabling to power it.

It incorporates an improved 7.1-channel Realtek ALC1120 sound card sound card. It is true, that it is not the most complete audio boost that we have seen in MSI, but we are in front of a mid-range motherboard.

Regarding storage, it has four SATA III 6 GB / s connections somewhat separated from each other but with support for RAID 0 and 1. We sincerely believe that only 4 SATA connections is quite a bit, since at least they should carry all 4 motherboards. We believe that it has been an unnecessary cut.

Of course, we must not forget the RGB lighting system that we can configure from the MSI application on the Windows desktop. Regarding their rear connections, they have:

  • 1 x PS / 22 x USB 2.0 Type-A1 x DVI-D1 x HDMI4 x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A1 x LAN RJ451 x USB 3.1 Type A1 x USB 3.1 Type C5 x audio input / output1 x optical connection

To check the stability of the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X processor to stock values and the motherboard we have stressed with Prime 95 Custom and air cooling. The graphics that we have used is an Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti, without further delay, let's see the results obtained in our tests with a 1920 x 1080 monitor.

BIOS

It has nothing to envy to the BIOS of the high-end X370 or Z370 motherboards. Among its functions, it allows us to control the speed of the fans, overclock and carry out advanced monitoring of the entire system. Of course, one of the most complete in this price range.

Final words and conclusion about MSI B350 Gaming PRO Carbon

The MSI B350 Gaming PRO Carbon is an ATX format motherboard with 4 + 2 power phases, compatibility up to 64 GB of RAM with AMP profile, more than good quality of components, a very stable BIOS and a remarkable overclocking ability.

In our tests we have been able to leave the Ryzen 7 1800X at 4 GHz (although in this series we recommend a Ryzen 5) and get the most out of the 8 GB Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti. Games like Doom or Overwatch we have really enjoyed, and we have not missed a higher-end motherboard.

We recommend reading the best motherboards on the market
