Once again we thank MSI for the trust placed in the transfer of the product for its analysis:

Technical Features MSI GT75VR 7RF Titan Pro

Unboxing and design

The laptop arrives in a robust and large cardboard box. On its cover we find the name of the laptop in large and a quote from an international media evaluating the equipment.

While in the back we have all the news and the main technical characteristics of the laptop. Virtual reality support, enhanced sound, Thunderbolt 3, ultra-high-frequency display, innovative keyboard, and many more;-).

Once we open and extract all the accessories we find the following bundle:

  • MSI GT75VR 7RF Titan Pro portable gamer. Instruction manual and quick guide. 330 W power supply and mains connection cable.

The MSI GT75VR 7RF Titan Pro is a fairly large model with a 17.3-inch screen and Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). For a great experience, it has an IPS panel with a frequency of 120 Hz, 3 ms response time and 100% color fidelity in sRGB.

MSI offers another version with 4K screen and IPS panel for those who work more than they play. ?

For you to see the quality of its colors and viewing angles, we leave you some captures from different positions.

Its design is a classic in the MSI Gaming line: corporate colors (black and red) and a minimalist yet elegant touch for a gamer series.

As we have commented, the laptop has large dimensions: 428 x 314 x 31 at 58 mm and a weight of 4.56 kg. Yes, we know that it is not a laptop to carry it at a cost every day but it is focused on users who want a powerful computer but that can move with some ease.

Between its connections we come across 3 USB 3.0 connections, audio input and output. As we can see we have a grill that ventilates the entire motherboard.

While on the opposite side we have 2 USB 3.0 connections, a 5 in 1 card reader and a Kensington blocker.

While at the back we find a Gigabit LAN connection , a USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 3 technology, Mini DisplayPort, HDMI and the power connection.

The lower part has large grilles that allow you to quickly ventilate all the internal components. While to access its interior it is as simple as removing the 5 main screws (you have to break the warranty sticker) and we can access some of the wonders of MSI.

It has a total of 2 3W speakers and a 5W Woofer signed by Nahimic Dynaudio technology. What improvement do we have compared to other models or manufacturers? Mainly they achieve an extraordinary sound quality and that we can expand with a good external audio system.

As for the processor we find an Intel Core i7-7820HK manufactured in a 14nm lithograph. The processor has 4 physical cores and 8 threads based on the Kaby Lake architecture at a frequency of 2.9 GHz, a turbo frequency of 3.9 GHz, 8MB of L3 cache and a 45W TDP.

In RAM memory they have opted for a 32 GB kit in dual channel, a very generous amount to go over several years and nothing out of the ordinary in these ranges. They are DDR4L (1.2V) modules which is the minimum required by the sixth, seventh and eighth generation processors. We can upgrade to another 32 GB of RAM, giving an amount of 64 GB. Almost nothing!

Regarding storage, MSI has opted for a 512 GB PCI Gen X4 SSD NVMe RAID that will offer us the maximum capacity. Although additionally we have a mechanical 1 TB 7200 rpm hard disk that will allow us to save documents and heavy files.

The graphics section is quite remarkable with the presence of an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card with a total of 2560 CUDA Cores accompanied by 8 GB of GDDR5X memory with a 256 bit interface. This combination will make us play without any problem at native resolution to any game in ULTRA, virtual reality or 120 Hz.

Special mention to the Cooler Boost TITAN cooling system that with 10 copper heatpipes and two fans keeps both the processor and the graphics card in excellent temperatures. According to MSI, they consider it the best extreme cooling system for gaming.

We can only talk about its 8-cell battery that will give us an autonomy of 2-3 hours if we are giving cane to the laptop. If we adjust the energy savings we can scratch some of the 6 hours perfectly. Of course, it is internal and we cannot extract it.

MSI has once again relied on Steelseries for one of the most fundamental components of a notebook: the keyboard. The sensations that the new mechanical keyboard of the MSI GT75VR 7RF Titan Pro has left us is very similar to that of a Cherry MX Blue with its “Clicky” style characteristics. We see it ideal to play but to write very assiduously (at least to me) they tire. For this reason we believe that they should have opted for an MX Red switch.

As it could not be missed, it has an attractive high quality RGB LED lighting system that allows us to choose between many effects. Nor can we forget the trackpad, pleasant to the touch and quality, so that we can use the equipment without the need for a mouse in normal use.

Test of performance

MSI Dragon Center allows us to customize, monitor, take control from your own operating system or even with your smartphone with its official APP. We already have enough MSI laptops under our back and we know how good this software is. As always 10!

Bringing a keyboard signed by Steelseries brings a series 10 software. It allows us to create various functions: macros, profiles and lighting settings. The best of the best on the market?

At Cinebench R15 we have obtained a result of 612 cb. A pretty good result considering that this is a laptop processor. While to test the performance of the RAID of SSD NVMe disks we have used the classic Crystal Disk Mark. With read rates of 3, 219 MB / s and write of 3, 041 MB / s, without a doubt some heart attack figures.

Finally you can see the performance it has offered us playing. It has been a joy for us to try this laptop.

Final words and conclusion about MSI GT75VR 7RF Titan Pro

The MSI GT75VR 7RF Titan Pro is one of the best laptops we've tested in these 7 years. And it has all the ingredients to succeed: components, design, cooling, build quality and ability to play any virtual reality game.

In our tests we have been able to see that thanks to its Intel Core i7-7820HK processor, its 32 GB of RAM, NVMe SSD RAID and the Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics card, it offers the best experience both in Full HD resolution and with the HTC Live.

We can not forget its mechanical Steelseries keyboard with Clicky MX Blue switches. Ideal for the most gamers! We would also like to highlight the possibilities offered by the software: control and monitoring of the entire system. In addition to the famous Steelseries keyboard and its lighting effects. Chapó!

Coming soon to Spain for a price of approximately 3899 euros. Undoubtedly, a figure available to very few users. Do you think its acquisition is worth it?
