The outer packaging is very familiar to us, especially for those of us who have purchased an MSI product in the past. Maintains the red, black and white color scheme, corporate color of the MSI GAMING range, together with the dragon emblem leaves us with a quite pleasant sight.

The MSI GTX970 measures 269 x 141 x 35mm and has a rather attractive design by combining both black and red. The construction material of the first casing is plastic, I understand that to save costs and comes complete with protectors to prevent the entry of dust. As rear connections we have a Displayport, HDMI and two DVI-D / DVI-I outputs.

All our tests have been carried out with a resolution of 1920px x 1080px and with 4xAA filters.

What are we looking for in the tests?

First the best possible image quality. The most important value for us is the average FPS (Frames per second), the higher the number of FPS, the more fluid the game will be. To slightly differentiate the quality, we leave you a table to assess the quality in FPS:

Let's not fool ourselves; there are games that can have an average of 100 FPS. It may be because the game is quite old and does not require excessive graphic resources or that the graphics is the most powerful on the market, or we have GPU systems for thousands of euros. But the reality is different, and games like Crysis 3 and Metro Last Light are very demanding and do not usually give high scores.

Final words and conclusion

Once again MSI has left us with a great taste in our mouth, this time we have checked for a month their fantastic MSI GTX970 Twin Frozr V OC 3.5GB + 512MB. First, because it has a more than adequate size 269 x 141 x 35 mm, 28well Maxwell chip and it has three modes automatically: game mode, silent mode and OC mode, reaching speeds of up to 1279 Mhz with Boost.

First of all, I would like to highlight its excellent Twin Frozr V heatsink which is very quiet and keeps the graphic in quite cold temperatures. This is due to its Torx fans, Military Class components, and 0dB system. What does this mean? That the graphics card does not rotate the fans until it reaches the temperature line defined by the manufacturer.

In our internal tests we have achieved 10235 points in 3DMARK Fire Strike, in games in Metro Last Light 70 FPS and in Battlefield 4 85 FPS.

In summary, it is a fresh, silent graphics card with an excellent overclock ratio. Its price ranges around € 400 in online store, a slightly higher price than after the launch of this series.
