Msi infinite x plus review in Spanish (full analysis)

Table of contents:

Anonim

Among the manufacturers with the best configurations of already assembled desktops we have MSI, being one of the most options they always have for a demanding gamer and creative public. In this case we analyze the MSI Infinite X Plus which is presented in a half-tower chassis exclusively designed for this series with RGB lighting and high-performance components focused on gaming.

The option we analyzed is the 9SE, which has an Intel Core i7-9700K with liquid cooling, 16 GB DDR4 and an entire MSI RTX 2080 Super Ventus in vertical configuration. It is also available in various storage versions, although here we have a Samsung TB981 1TB + 1TB HDD, great choice for performance and storage capacity.

Before seeing how far this PC can go, we thank MSI for trusting us for another year and giving us this team to do our analysis.

MSI Infinite X Plus 9TH technical characteristics

Unboxing

Unboxing of this MSI Infinite X Plus is not very different from that of an empty chassis from the Taiwanese manufacturer, since a large box of neutral cardboard with a sketch of the chassis on both main faces has been used. In the lateral areas we find information about the model in question and its basic specifications.

The interior does change, because due to the weight, two huge high-density polyethylene foam molds have been used to keep the tower firmly fixed against movement in transport. In turn, the team is tucked inside a black cloth bag. On one of the sides we have another thin cardboard box that will have a glass panel inside one of the sides of the chassis, in case we want to change it.

So the bundle has the following elements:

  • MSI Infinite X Plus desktops Power cord Tempered glass panel for chassis Support guide

Just and necessary for everything to work. In this case it seems that the manufacturer has not included a video cable for the equipment, something that we do focus on other models. On the other hand, it is a good detail to include a glass for the chassis in addition to the sheet that comes pre-installed.

MSI Infinite X Plus 9TH chassis design

This MSI Infinite X Plus, as well as all the equipment that the manufacturer already assembles, has a chassis specifically designed for the equipment. It is something that undoubtedly gives exclusivity to the set we buy.

This chassis has an ATX half-tower format with fairly standard measurements of 210 mm thick, 450 mm deep and 488 high, so that everything fits perfectly and there is space for the air circulation inside. It is mostly made of metal, except the casing in the front and top areas as we can see. Something that is seen the less curious is the enormous inclination that the team has backwards (not that the photo is folded) giving it an even more aggressive appearance.

Going a little into the lateral areas, we have two standard design metal sheets installed as a base. The one on the left has a honeycomb-shaped opening at the bottom with a slight thickening to reveal the graphics card that we have installed vertically. Obviously the opening is to allow air suction by the two fans of the Ventus heatsink that has this GPU installed.

The fixing of both sheets is done from the back with star screws that are not manually threaded, and also one of them, holding the right sheet, has the guarantee seal, which if we break we will lose it.

But of course, what we want is a greater visual impact for the 2, 000 euros we just spent on this MSI Infinite X Plus, so the least we can do is put the side glass on it. It is not the destination of other generic chassis, since it occupies the entire side and has darkened frames to prevent the chassis from being seen.

What is different and interesting is that we must install it separately from the metal chassis as we see in the previous screenshot. For this we have a set of 4 screws with intermediate separator that detach this glass about 7 - 8 mm from the chassis. What is this for? Well, logically to allow air to enter and a slight separation of the graphics card from the glass to ensure its cooling.

Another of the uses of the glass panel is to reveal the interior lighting that we have pre-installed, in the form of an RGB strip that can be addressed with Mystic Light from the Dragon Center.

We continue with the front and top area before looking in detail at the ports and connections of the MSI Infinite X Plus. This is one of the most interesting areas of the chassis since it presents a quite original design while aggressive thanks to its multiple lines and angles in the style of a carved stone. The whole set is made of plastic, and the widest area has a quite striking brushed finish in that black color.

But the front has more surprises, since the polished face has a circuit line design that will light up with the strip installed inside. This strip also has 5 different lighting zones that we can customize in color to our liking, and that adds animation to the inner strip. In addition, the upper area is a cover that will unfold when opening the tray of the DVD player, by itself, we have one installed.

Finally, the upper part also has a plastic casing with the same style of edges as the front, although a large opening with medium grain metal mesh has been placed in it to allow the hot air to be expelled. In the area we have capacity for two fans, one of them being pre-installed. The back has a handle that will serve to transport the chassis more comfortably.

Here are some screenshots with the team in action.

Ports and connections

After seeing the design in detail, it is time to focus on the connectivity of the MSI Infinite X Plus which is quite extensive as it is an already assembled team. Let's go by parts.

We focus on the front, which is where MSI has arranged the tower's I / O panel. In it, we find the following positions:

  • 1x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C1x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A (red) 1x USB 2.02x 3.5mm jack for mic input and headphone output Power button Button to open DVD player

A complete panel in terms of variety, although it could be seen a little more extensive in connectivity, for example with a second USB 2.0 to connect our peripherals. The most curious thing of all is that MSI has not given up on the DVD player, which is located in the upper area and is basically the same one that integrates laptops.

We continue now with those located in the back, which we will divide on the motherboard and GPU. Starting with the latter we have:

  • 3x DisplayPort 1.41x HDMI 2.0b

It is a standard configuration for a graphics card with 4 video outputs for high resolution monitors. Specifically, the capacity of DisplayPort will be the best, with FullHD @ 240Hz, 4K @ 240 Hz and 8K @ 60 Hz, while HDMI supports a maximum of 8K @ 30 Hz and 4K @ 60 Hz.

And the ports included in the motherboard will be:

  • 1x PS / 2 keyboard and mouse combo 4x USB 2.01x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C1x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A RJ-45 port EthernetS / PDIF audio5x 3.5mm Jack1x HDMI 1.41x DisplayPort 1.21x DVI-D

Without a doubt we are missing more USB connectivity, although we understand that this MSI MAG Z390M Mortar is a slightly less current board and its USB capacity is reduced a little. We only have a Gen2 USB, and on the contrary, video connectivity abounds with three ports that we will not give any use for having a dedicated GPU.

Interior and hardware

Now we continue to delve into the hardware and components configuration of the MSI Infinite X Plus, since something important before knowing the performance is knowing that we have under the hood.

Refrigeration

We have found it interesting to see first of all the elements used for cooling, mainly for having an ATX tower with good possibilities.

Starting with the main thing, the CPU, we have a Taiwanese-built liquid cooling system such as the MSI Dragon Liquid Cooling in its 120mm version. We believe that it is more than enough for this CPU even if we plan to overclock it, since such a system can remove about 200 W of TDP without any problem. In your case, the radiator is installed in the rear recess of the chassis.

The fan in charge of putting air into the interior is one installed on the front with an 80 mm diameter. While at the top we have a second 120mm fan that is responsible for drawing hot air. We have also seen that the side plate has an opening to allow the GPU, or in its case the glass, to breathe, so there will be no air circulation problem.

RTX 2080 Super GPU

In this MSI Infinite X Plus, as in almost all the manufacturer's mounted PCs, we have mounted a dedicated GPU from the Ventus series, that is, its base model with a lower OC and a more normal heatsink.

Recall that we have implemented a RT10 2080 TUF10 12nm FinFET chipset, with modifications in terms of frequency and cores. In this MSI model we start from a base frequency of 1650 MHz, and we will reach 1830 MHz in turbo mode, which is not bad for being the cheapest model so to speak. Inside we have a total of 3072 CUDA Cores, 384 Tensor Cores and 48 RT Cores, with which we can reach 192 Texture Units (TMUs) and 64 Rasterized Units (ROPs), or what is the same, play in high quality at over 60 FPS in 4K.

On the part of the GDDR6 memory, the 8 GB and its 256-bit bus have been maintained as in the 2080. What has been increased is the clock frequency of the chips, reaching 1938 MHz, thus achieving speeds of 15, 500 MHz or 15.5 Gbps of stock due to the condition of its DDR architecture, as well as a bandwidth of 496 GB / s. An impressive graphics card valued alone at more than 750 euros, and that we can overclock without too much trouble to squeeze it a little more if possible.

CPU and Memory

We now continue with the CPU, which in this MSI Infinite X Plus model is an Intel Core i7-9700K. This family of Gaming desktops, like the Trindent, has been upgraded to Intel's 9th generation processors, and we hope that it will also be the 10th when the blue giant decides to take them out.

In this case we have a count of 8 physical and 8 logical cores and consequently, not using HyperThreading, since only the 9900K uses it. The manufacturing process used is logically 14 nm and Coffee Lake Refresh architecture. This CPU is capable of working at a base frequency of 3.60 GHz and turbo of 4.90 GHz, with all its cores unlocked and excellent overclocking capabilities. Its L3 cache memory is 12 MB and its TDP is 95W.

We continue with the configuration of RAM memory that in this model that we analyze does not seem to us the best option. And it is that a single 16 GB DDR4 2666 MHz module manufactured by Samsung has been installed. We would have liked a double 8 GB module to take advantage of the Dual Channel, or even 32 GB with two 16 GB modules, since the price of the equipment is not exactly a bargain.

The CPU and chipset capacity will give us the possibility of installing up to 128 GB DDR4, so we will not have major expansion problems. In higher models we will find the Intel Core i9-9900K mounted as flagship.

Plate and storage

And so we reach the final stretch, where the main characteristics of the motherboard and storage of the MSI Infinite X Plus remain to be seen.

Starting with the first, we have an MSI MAG Z390M Mortar, being a motherboard with a Micro-ATX form factor belonging to the mid / high range. In it of course we have the Intel Z390 chipset, which is unlocked for overclocking, presenting the best features of the Intel desktop platform. Being a Micro-ATX board, the 4 DIMM slots with a capacity of 128 GB at 4400 MHz maximum are not renounced.

The most important thing will be its expandability. It has 2 PCIe 3.0 x16 slots working at X16 and X4 respectively, as well as a third PCIe 3.0 x1 slot. We have MultiGPU support for AMD CrossFireX 2-way.

And for our storage we have two M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 slots, with one of them installing an M.2 PCIe NVMe 1.2 Samsung PM981 SSD with 1 TB of storage. In other models we will find a dual SSD configuration in RAID 0 PCIe, this not being the case. Finally the board has 4 SATA III ports at 6 Gbps where we will also find different configurations with 3.5 "or 2.5" HDD. In this model we have a 1 TB WD Blue, although the commercialized model has a 2 TB drive, so better than better.

Finally MSI has had the detail of integrating Wi-Fi connectivity on this board thanks to the third M.2 CNVi slot. Specifically, it is an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 card, so we will have the latest in wireless connectivity. This card gives us a maximum low bandwidth of 802.11ax of 2.4 Gbps in the 5 GHz 2 × 2 band and 733 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz 2 × 2 band.

Dragon Center Software

A good complement to the MSI Infinite X Plus is this Dragon Center software. MSI has integrated into it both the equipment performance monitor and the Mystic Light lighting management, which is reason enough to have it.

From this program we will have a complete visual of our chassis to decorate it with the different lighting modes available. In addition, control of the performance profile will be an essential aspect, since the FPS rate in games will be affected depending on the mode we have selected, so stay tuned to it.

Tests and performance tests

Now we go to see the stress tests and benchmark the MSI Infinite X Plus 9TH to see how it performs as a whole and in its different components.

Testing bench:

  • Device: MSI Infinite X Plus Monitor: ViewSonic VX3211-4k-MHD

SSD performance

We started with a test to assess the read and write capabilities of the team's Samsung PM981 M.2 storage unit. To do this, we have used the CristalDiskMark 7.0.0 software .

We know this unit well for being inside many laptops and it never disappoints, with read rates of over 3000 MB / s and write rates of 2400 MB / s. We would have liked to test the model with RAID to see the differences, although this Samsung is among the best SSDs. Notice what good values we have in random read and write, being the best without using a RAID 0.

Benchmarks and synthetic tests

Let's see below the synthetic test block. For this we have used the following programs:

  • Cinebench R15Cinebench R20PCMark 83DMark Time Spy, Fire Strike, Fire Strike Ultra and Port Royal

We cannot directly compare with other pre-assembled equipment due to its different hardware, but we can compare it with components analyzed individually. Both the displayed values of the graphics card and the CPU coincide with our analyzes of these accessories, specifically the Nvidia RTX 2080 Super and the Intel Core i7-9700K

Gaming performance

To establish a real performance of this MSI Infinite X Plus, we have tested a total of 6 titles with fairly existing graphics, which are the following, and with the following configuration:

  • Final Fantasy XV, standard, TAA, DirectX 12 DOOM, Ultra, TAA, Open GL Deus EX Mankind Divided, Alto, Anisotropico x4, DirectX 12 Far Cry 5, Alto, TAA, DirectX 12 Metro Exodus, Alto, Anisotropico x16, DirectX 12, without RTX Shadow of the Tomb Rider, High, TAA + Anisotropic x4, DirectX 12

The obvious frame rate per second is lower than individual reviews due to the CPU, which is one notch below 9900K, and it is especially noticeable in Full HD resolution. However, the results are spectacular, with rates above 120 FPS in most cases with high quality graphics in 1080p, above 100 FPS in 2K and also above 60 FPS in many cases in full 4K resolution.

Temperatures

The stress process to which the MSI Infinite X Plus 9TH has been subjected has lasted around 60 minutes, in order to have a reliable average temperature. This process has been carried out with Furmark, Prime95 and the capture of temperatures with HWiNFO.

MSI Infinite X Plus 9TH 9SE Idle Full
CPU @ 3.8 GHz 28 ° C 59 ° C
GPU 27 ° C 63 ° C

As you can see, we are pretty much left over in terms of temperatures, especially in the CPU at a frequency of 3.8 GHz that is relatively low for the maximum capacity that we would have.

Final words and conclusion about the MSI Infinite X Plus

As we mentioned at the beginning of this analysis, MSI is one of the manufacturers with the largest range of assembled equipment for sale. And the Infinite X Plus are the highest range in ATX chassis mounts. In this case we have an i7-9700K together with an RTX 2080 Super that will delight all those who love games.

In it we have seen very good FPS rates, exceeding 60 in 4K and high quality or 120 in Full HD without major problems. And there is still room for improvement, as we have not fully squeezed this unlocked 8-core CPU. The storage configuration we also liked a lot, since the Samsung MP981 is added good-capacity mechanical storage for a high-end. We only put the downside in RAM memory, since a single module does little for a PC of this caliber.

We recommend our guide to the best monitors on the market

We also find it very successful to opt for an ATX chassis with good ventilation capacity like this, in which we have seen excellent temperatures of both the CPU with 59 o C and the GPU with just 63 o C. Using liquid cooling has been a great idea to not worry about performance.

This MSI Infinite X Plus is available in multiple configurations with different storage, up to RAID 0, processors up to 9900K, and GPU up to RTX 2080 Ti. In this article we have tested the 9SE-480EU, which we will find at a price of 2, 227 euros. Logically it is a fairly high price, but in it we find quite strong hardware, whose pieces separately add up to a close figure. Includes licensed Windows 10 Home.
