MSI has surprised at CES 2019 with the launch of its new Ultrawide 5K monitor, the Prestige PS341WU, specifically offered to demanding professional users (and with a loose pocket). Let us know its characteristics.

MSI Prestige PS341WU, an impressive monitor intended for professionals

As we say, we are facing an ultrawide monitor that makes use of a 21: 9 aspect ratio, as is usual in this type of monitors. Most shocking is the Ultra-Wide 5K (UW5K) resolution of 5120 × 2160, that is, the equivalent horizontally of a normal 5K monitor and vertically at 4K UHD and 4K DCI.

The screen size is 34 inches, which is equivalent in height to a 27 ″ 16: 9 monitor. In the image published by MSI we see quite small frames, not tiny, but quite consistent with the market trend to hide them as much as possible.

Other notable characteristics of the monitor are the use of an LG Nano IPS panel, with a refresh rate of 60Hz, and a color coverage of 98% of DCI-P3. The latter is very important for professional users, and in this case it translates into good coverage by far exceeding the sRGB space (it covers approximately 20-30% more).

Regarding its inputs, we have HDMI, DisplayPort and USB Type-C, in addition to 3 USB 3.1 ports for connectivity, and it connects to a PC with another USB 3.1 port.

MSI has had a presence in the monitor market for years, especially in the gaming segment. Now, this new launch has shown that the brand is seriously committed to positioning itself among the best options on the market.

This monitor will be available in June-July at a recommended price of $ 1, 800. At the moment, it is unknown if it will meet any of the HDR standards. What do you think of this release? Don't forget to leave your opinion in the comments.
